I left mine in an airport parking garage for 12 straight days. No charger. Periodic freezing temps at night. Gear Guard was on.

Went from 49% to 30% in 12 days. Not too bad.

I talked to a service center friend and they said leaving it in "Shipping Mode" would have decreased battery drain.

You're right, it's not too bad. It's awful. 25kWh of energy consumption doing virtually nothing. You could run full throttle benchmarks on a laptop for 12 days and use less than half that amount of energy. The battery doesn't need to be conditioned while the vehicle is parked. There's nothing the R1T is doing with Gear Guard running that a cell phone couldn't handle. You could drive a Chevy Bolt 100 miles with just the electricity your R1T wasted sitting still at the airport.

Ever since the last update I've been getting a 400w draw by accessories while charging on the L1 charger.

I've tried locked/unlocked. Deep sleep resets, infotainment resets. I don't have gear guard enabled, and no home location set so it shouldn't be checking gps for that. No phone proximity unlock. I've tried putting the fob in a faraday box, no luck.

Quite disappointed, did they implement Bitcoin mining while plugged in with the last update? A small way to earn some additional income.

I've been taking pictures of the charging sessions, if it continues after the next update I'll put in a ticket.

Checking the app can also wake the truck up. Then If you leave your HVAV system on it will run while the truck is woken up. You keep checking the app. The more it runs. It's kinda makes sense
I've started turning the Climate off whenever I leave the truck parked overnight or for long sits. Which is funny because it reminds me of my Dad scolding me for not turning off the AC before I turned off the car in our old Lincoln. "You'll ruin the compressor!" :CWL: This has definitely improved my vamp drain for extended sits. Just turn climate back on in the app when you're ready to leave.

I also seem to get better vamp drain when parked at the airport than at my house. No wifi connection active? Who knows.

OOF, that’s beyond terrible. I have no idea how you’re ok with that. Imagine you park an ICE vehicle with 10 gallons of fuel only to have 6 gallons when you return. There’s no excuse to lose ANY amount of battery when the vehicle is off.

While I agree the drain is terrible, he did say Gear Guard was ON and its respectable to assume some drain given the truck has to run an auxiliary process to power it. No different from Tesla Sentry Mode, which also has drain. I am still very much in the camp that the drain is too much, but wanted to point this out.

Yeah, I'm not going to lie, I definitely did not enjoy having Range Anxiety when I was thousands of miles away from my R1T! I have a 75 mile drive home from the airport, so it put me in a situation where I needed to stop at a DCFC and add a bit of range to keep me comfortable on the drive home.

But I guess I don't know any better, this is my first EV so I have no idea what to expect. The parking garage at the airport only has a few L2 Chargers and they were all taken when I arrived.

I’ve been out of town for the past week. My R1T has been sitting at home in my carport plugged in.

- 70% Limit
- 240 V @ 48 amps
- Charge schedule from 12am to 12pm daily
- the info below covers the period from 1/7/2023 to 1/14/2023. The car was charged to 70% after midnight on 1/7. My mobile car detailer washed the car later that morning and then plugged it back in. The car has been sitting there ever since.
- Gear Guard is off at home
- Car is connected to WiFi
- I didn’t pay attention but I’m guessing the weather in Phoenix, AZ during this period ranged from daytime highs in the upper 60’s and overnight lows in the low to mid 40’s.

According to info in the Rivian app, the truck has taken 32 kWH of electricity in the past week and added 56 miles of range in 7 days.

That sure looks like losing 4.57 kWh/day and 8 miles rated range per day while the truck is sitting idle.

Am I interpreting these numbers correctly?

I did call Rivian service, who said this is more than expected, and they are scheduling a service appointment for me.

Here are some screenshots. The second is from our Model 3 which is plugged in and parked right next to the R1T. It has taken 0 charge in the same time period.

Here is mine after a 24 hour period. I have a service ticket for next week.

2% in 24 hours and Service is looking into it? what was the approx temp? b/c I think I routinely lose more than 2% in a 24 hour period. I'm hoping a generic software update will solve it for all of us over the next several months.

I've been lucky with drain up until I just got it back from service. I was experiencing maybe 1% overnight where the vehicle is within range of my phone at all times. Since getting it back it's up to 3%.

Here's what Rivian Service will tell the owner:
"It's within spec"
or
"It's normal"
or
"They all do that"

I do not recall a single owner here ever reporting that Rivian ever did anything to their vehicle that has reduced the ridiculous vampire drain problem. It's all in the software, not a hardware issue that can be "fixed" at the SC.

So I’ve been away for a while too, seems like over 265 hours since my last trip. 48A@240VAC.

Oof. That's still around 3 kWh per day or around 2.4% per day.

And that’s in an insulated garage where the ambient is typically around 51F.
