Anyone with the new dampers able to take a picture of any labeling on them?

The chattering dampers gen 1 owners deal with are Monroe CVSA2s
Mines going in tomorrow for the retrofit. Let’s see.

Really, anyone with a 2024 should have them I think.

Once my Tonneau cover is in... I'll add the damper replacement demand onto the list, with a tire rotation.

As a R2 reservation holder, I'd like to get that handled.

Keep in mind, the PNS I posted are R1S specific, I think someone here posted the R1T specific ones.

I'll be following this closely. It's the #1 bigger drawback to this vehicle, I'm a HUGE Rivian promoter too... Thankfully this is gone for Gen 2. I only opted for the Gen1 due to the pricing.

Yea, I know what the R1T part number is. I already had the jounce update too.

Did the replacement jounce lines fix the squeak?

It makes it quiet enough to remove it from a mental list of issues you don't like from the vehicle.

Cuts the chirps back by 95%.

I think I have this issue as well but would like to confirm with forum members here first. The video is below. Crank up the volume and check out around 7 sec and 15 sec marks. It's actually noisier than what you hear in the video (phone didn't capture sound well I think).

Already complained about it to the Montreal SC, but they said it was normal noise. Well if this is normal for sure I'm going to trade the R1T for something else soon.

Hey @Jonger1150 did you have the same noises?

thats the same sound mine makes over bumps but isn't that the normal sound the R1 suspension makes? i feel like ive heard that in all the loaners ive had as well.

not really sure what a squeaky jounce line sounds like. there's so many other chirps, ticks, clicks from the R1 suspension and related issues. anyone have a definitive sound they recorded and was deemed to needing jounce lines replaced?

Hard to tell from the video, but I don't hear any squeaking. The jounce line replacement is specifically for squeaking (think the squeak from a good cheese curd in your poutine ;).

My vote is Not jounce lines, sounds normal to me. You need a good set of 3-4 speed bumps hit at 10-15mph to really tell, and it'll sound like a clown doing squats on their squeaky shoes.

Admittedly I thought this was just a normal squeaky sound, but I'm happy to learn there's a solution and added to my upcoming service.

I think I hear the jounce squeak and also that pronounced spongey sound when you go over the speed bump. Not sure if the speed bump is the jounce, or just the sound of the dampers.

Yup, I can hear that fucking clatter at 7 sec mark. It sounds like blown out struts.

That noise is normal for the installed dampers, but a new part has been produced to replace it. Rivian isn't going to make it easy for you. This might be a situation where some SCs will do it and others won't. If I have to drive it across the country and back, I will.

Yes, all Rivian Gen 1s make the clatter and chirp.

Jounce lines probably cost them $150 to replace, the dampers are over $1200 each. Guess which one they're OK with replacing without much effort.

...
To me the squeak is like an old mattress with springs underneath. It's really like a metallic stretching/compression.
