If your suspension squeaks like a '42 Ford, ask them to replace your jounce lines.

Background:
My truck is one of the first 1,500 produced. Initially, the suspension was really quiet. Shortly after delivery, however, it developed a slight squeak on rough terrain (I live down a gravel driveway with some decent potholes). It continued to get worse over time, but since it really only affected me while in the driveway, I let it go. FFWD to last month when the geniuses in charge of roads put in 4 speed bumps in a 300-yard span on my way to work. Eight traversals a day sent the minor annoyance into a significant problem. It was so bad that I was embarrassed to drive over the bumps if there were pedestrians near enough to hear the squeaking. Since I already had a service appointment scheduled, I added it to the ticket.

Resolution:
When I picked it up last Saturday, I was told the jounce lines were replaced. I didn't really think that would be a fix since others here had stated they needed a damper replacement, but I am happy to report that the squeaking is completely gone.

Other Notes:
Updated tonneau - much slower than the older one.
Updated/recall accelerator pedal - low speed response and control is MASSIVELY better. Parking in the garage is so much easier, and acceleration from a stop is more smooth.

I'm going to ask my doctor about this next visit. Sounds promising.

Hmm, I may put in a ticket for this..unsure if it'd be under warranty but my tailgate also catches (on the top) when opening and it bends it until it releases and makes a god awful snapping sound. It doesn't break, but the alignment is clearly not accurate..

I know what jounce is. What are "jounce lines" in the Rivian?

Google was no help, so being someone who plays with AI systems in my "retirement", the system I'm using told me:

"A jounce line is typically used to provide additional control over the compression (jounce) stroke of the shock by regulating the airflow. It is similar to a hydraulic damper, and it's designed to provide a buffering effect to mitigate sudden changes in pressure or force."

I'll be honest; the day I was told the jounce lines were replaced was the first time I'd ever heard the term... That said, it was explained as a hydraulic line that helps feed fluid to the dampers. No idea how accurate that is.

? I used those speed bumps to test which ride feel and Regen I like with the update! Turned me into a standard/soft/low kinda guy.

I've always been a Standard/Soft but I love High regen. Maybe I'll give Low a try this afternoon.

FWIW at a high level that sounds very similar to the part that was described to me that causes the squeaks/chirps by a tech when I asked about it a year or so ago.

Interesting ?
Can you post the work order? This helps with PN’s but also proof to show some service advisors that have never heard of this being the fix.

This is interesting. Like above, the squeaking was explained to me as an improperly sized orifice that regulates hydraulic flow back and forth. I wonder if the new lines you had installed are better engineered. All Rivians I've ever been in have the same squeak. Some louder than others, of course.
