I like it alot. And having dealers close by with service capabilities(and a parts department, etc) has become much more important to me than I used to think it was, now that Rivian service is all backed up and far away (for me).

Wow! I like everything about it except for one thing: the internal combustion engine. If only they could make it all electric. I would sell my R1S in a second for Toyota build quality and reliability.
I feel this way about quite a few vehicles. After having an EV I have no desire to go back to an ICE.

Wow. It looks great. I've had 6. Currently still have a 70 series.

Hybrid powertrain is a nice addition, but they really need to offer this in a full BEV configuration. Toyota is seriously lagging in this department and the BZ4X leaves a lot to be desired as a first attempt.

It sounds like this is known as the Toyota Prado in other regions, which is a different class of vehicle than the 300 series land cruiser. It's probably the better choice to bring into the US market to get more volume.

Toyota has always allowed the 4Runner to fill that market segment in the U.S. so it will be interesting to see what they do with the 4Runner now, as this Land Cruiser is only slightly larger.

I assume most people know this, but we’ve had the Prado in the U.S. for 20 years now as the Lexus GX. This is just the first time we’re getting a Toyota badged version in addition to the GX. If I still had my GX (and didn’t have my Rivian) I’d be throwing my money at Toyota right now.

Curious to see how the 4cylinder hybrid does. Still of the mindset that a hybrid may help with gas mileage but otherwise I am still maintaining an ICE.

This is what they should have released back in 2006 instead of the FJ. Now that Toyota has discontinued the FJ, this will be a better fit for that hole.

I would have bought this back then if it was available (I passed on the FJ for many reasons - visibility was a big one, gas mileage that wasn't any better than my 4Runner was another). And I probably would have bought this, if it were available, as recently as 6 years ago before the Rivian was announced. But now I don't really see the point, for me.

I notice they don't say anything about MPG. I wonder if the hybrid adds more than just a few miles.

Nice, but this is scary especially if you like to do your own maintenance...

No third row seats in the US but they all come with a rear locker. It'll be awesome off-road. I've been considering replacing my current gx with the new one instead of the r1s. I guess I'll see what's available first.
