Any New SR or SR+ R1T or R1S Delivered

I'm curious to see when someone does range/usable capacity tests on these smaller battery packs.

R2 / R3 has heat pump (confirmed by RJ)

I remember seeing this video last year during the cold snap. They compare a resistive heater model 3 to a newer one with a heat pump Edit: also I see in the comments the ptc heater used about 8kwh while the heat pump car used 5-6. Another takeaway is Kyle thinks the heater and insulation in...

    Indications of an R1 refresh

I still have a pre price hike preorder and I think I may as well wait to see what changes come out after April.

    Where are the Rivian "adventurers"?

I plan on doing plenty of adventuring on the trails with our R1S once we get it, especially since we are just a couple hours from Moab and Ouray. I think we'll see more people using Rivians on the trails after a few more years, kind of like it seems that land cruisers get more trail use by the...

Moment When Huge Boulders Crush Moving Trucks In Peru

That's nuts! I had a fist size rock hit and dent my door on Imogene pass and that was enough of a shock!

Reinforced Underbody Shield removed & myth dispelled (not integral to pack structure)

This is awesome info, thanks! It's what I suspected, so it does seem possible that an aftermarket solution could happen, but maybe in smaller segments. Is the shield made from an aluminum extrusion?

Hi There, from Mountain Pass Performance

Yes I'm an engineer and understand the principles of brakes, and I do use my brakes going over trail obstacles, at 2 mph. I'll probably just get some 20" wheels that I don't mind scratching up on rocks.

    Do Inflatable Jacks Work?

I have a lift-mate to go with the hi-lift; it hooks onto the wheel spokes for a much more stable lifting point.

Hi There, from Mountain Pass Performance

I'm not looking to have a huge debate about possibly a marginal difference in brake performance on a vehicle where you hardly use the brakes; I was giving a suggestion for a product targeted for people looking to improve their vehicle for trail use, not track use. 1 ton trucks have huge gcwr...

Hi There, from Mountain Pass Performance

How about a front brake 'downsize' kit so 18" wheels can fit?

If you are a lower price R1S pre-order still waiting, what is your current delivery estimate?

I've had the estimated delivery date changed several times, now undetermined because of the distance from a service center, but today I got an email asking to confirm my configuration to lock in price protection. Anyone else receive a similar email?

First towing trip to the beach: R1S + TrailManor Trailer

That's some decent efficiency, I'm curious how the return trip ends up! We had a trailmanor 3326 for several years and now we have a Jayco 22bhm, which is almost the same width and length as our old trailmanor, and just a bit heavier. The trailmanor towed so much easier with our 4runner due to...

    Ames Iowa Magic Dock Open

We passed by there yesterday on the way to Minnesota; that will be helpful for the holiday road trips when we finally get our Rivian!

Reinforced Underbody Shield removed from my pre order

I also got that email, and will probably just leave it off since I have a built 4runner for rougher trails. I was planning on using the 21's for longer road trips and getting 20" all terrains for the rest of the time. I wonder if anyone has looked at producing aftermarket skid plates?

New email - Option to take delivery outside of service center radius

We got the exact same email; a change from the estimated spring 2024 delivery. We aren't in a big rush so we'll see how reliability is looking in the new year.

    Solar charging while camping? "thoughts"

Here's an example of maximizing the solar potential on a travel trailer. He doesn't have an electric tow vehicle yet but uses the energy generated while at home to charge their tesla. I've been contemplating this for our trailer where I could potentially fit 3kw of panels and would probably...

Rally mode, gravel lot... Bad ending (tie rod)

It definitely seems like a part that they need to beef up, or hopefully aftermarket options come along.

So, let's say I really, really want to mod my R1 to a silly degree with 38's...

The biggest problem will be the increased diameter will make it even more likely an individual tire/motor stalls on an obstacle, which is already a problem. If a company like 74weld comes out with a portal gear box option, that would give you the increased clearance and gear reduction in one...

Just how much does elevation change affect your efficiency?

I've been experiencing a similar result going back and forth working on a cabin and being at the same state of charge after losing 4k feet of elevation in 20 miles:)

No winch for Rivian here is a solution.

You would put it on the wheel that is in the air or spinning, since then it could help move the vehicle forward. A more basic method is looping a strap through the wheel, but trickier to keep the strap aligned with the tire, and you need enough clearance from the wheel to the brakes. Here's a...
