of course they do. But not in marketing and higher profit margin. There is always an appetite to sell people a Performance version that beats the current model. Ford just launched the Raptor R etc. so this will be the R1TX or something like that.

It's not about competing with them, just using those trucks as an example of the progression of trims the manufacturers have been selling truck buyers for years. it's about selling a high performance version of you flagship truck. For Example: F150 -> Raptor -> Raptor R etc.

There have been rumors of the 1000+ Version of the truck for at least 6 months. I have posted about it before as have others. Among the auto journalist circles it has been a known project they are working on.

I'm not exactly itching to jump on an in-house developed motor. Nothing against Rivian but you don't learn to design motors on the fly.

Bosch has been at this for a very long time and they know what they are doing.

In-house means massive cost savings for Rivian - and they need that - but there is zero reliability history with what they are designing. Remember that.

1000+ hp quad motor. 0-60 in under 3 sec. Yes please! Do I need it? No. Do I want it? Yes!

With a speed limiter of 100mph ..............but really can they up that to 140 on sport mode, just saying.....

They are supposed to be shutting down the plant for some upgrades early next year. My guess has been that it includes changes necessary for this quad powerplant since the packaging is going to take up more room than the Bosch quad. We should see the first customer ones roll off the line easily within a few months of that shutdown if they don't have problems.

Why do you assume the packaging will be bigger than the current Bosch setup?
