@NinjaWrap gets it.
@tgrick seems to feel that writing software for a vehicle is like building a monolithic app. It's not even close to that. Writing software for a vehicle is as much, or more, a network systems/application integration project as it is coding an app. Effective error handling...
I don't have Toyos, but I compared Michelin LTs vs non-LTs on my Suburban years ago. The LTs were great in snow and when towing the boat with the Suburban fully loaded. But the LT ride was rougher and noisier due to the stiffer sidewalls. The LT is a heavier tire, so efficiency suffered as well...
OpenEVSE allows you to turn charging on and off from the app. I've been using my OpenEVSE for 3 years with zero issues. It just works. Buy it as a kit and assemble it yourself, or buy it assembled.

Making a statement like that without actually researching the current technology that automotive tech manufacturers are using tells me all I need to know about you and your employees. Neither you nor he would have gotten past the initial interview at my industrial controls and automation company...
I said $37. Take some time to actually research the spec differences between what you saw (basic functionality designed for cheapest cost) vs. what automotive spec is. Your $1 chip is guaranteed not to support HD FM or have a DSP. You are comparing stale bread to fresh apples.
Rivian could...
I'm glad that an appeal worked out for you. With the combination of recalls and NHTSA investigations in this area, my opinion is that Rivian should initially assume that this was their issue, not look for warranty denial excuses. It's disappointing it took an appeal to get this resolved.
Yes it is more. We know that the R1 is an SDR (Software Defined Radio) because of the way it tunes, scanning and displaying only stronger channels dynamically, supports HD FM, etc. etc. That's not a $2 chip. NXP is a supplier of automotive chips, so using them as a typical supplier, their HD FM...
And I'm kinda surprised at this comment, considering you are a ham. As a ham, you certainly know that the vast majority of average people have little to no interest in making the effort to pass an exam or learn how to use two way radios (no matter how simple GMRS is) but still go hiking...
This is why I always wait a few weeks before applying updates. I have yet to install the hotfix. I'm not seeing any real issues with the original update, and I'm reading lots of issues after the hotfix here and on reddit. There have been comments here in the past that it is stupid to wait to...
i agree, it's probably a temporary reduction in R1 production while the R2 ramps up. It could even be labor related - all hands on deck for R2 build training and ramp up, etc.
My Gen 1 did it yesterday. I was using Driver assist. There was a car stopped about 3 feet off the right shoulder. The brakes were applied not so gently for about a second until it decided it was not really a hazard.
It's consistently inconsistent. i have had mobile service twice - first to replace the 12 volt battery proactively 18 months ago and recently I had the 30k mile checkup. Both came from Trenton, NJ which is 1.4 to 2 hours travel time depending on route and traffic. The Malvern, Pennsylvania SC is...
Such first world complaints. God forbid that you actually get some stretching exercise by reaching up to close the frunk manually. ;)
As an investor, I applaud Rivian for keeping the build cost and therefore the sales price down by eliminating features that 50% or less of the people would...
