Geeze, how hard is it to line up a couple paint marks? Sounds like somebody missed a QC step. Good on them for making it right, anyway. 🙃

I still don't get why they don't give their service centers a hot line to call and then it results in an almost immediate review of assembly process. Not like misaligned steering wheels haven't been discussed on forums for like a year now....

Rivian service center is not the best with doing alignment or even balancing tires !!!

This is likely to correct the steering angle sensing for the software; skid control, driver plus or reversing camera indicators.

I've heard several complaints on steering wheel shake and pulling. Those issues are caster camber issues. Toyotas suffer steering shake when there's not enough caster especially with lift and big tires. Cross caster will cause pulling to one side.

Will this fix the pulling right issue?
Not based on the description, it is only aligning the wheel on the spline, strictly a visual issue not mechanical one.

Interesting how Rivian think that driving in a straigh line is not important to the performance of the vehicle,

This condition is noticeable to the customer but would not result in any changes in the performance of the vehicle

Kind of. If they are aligning the steering wheel position to the steering shaft position, it's because they want the steering angle sensor to know exactly when the vehicle is driving straight. Thereafter they have to cross adjust the tie rods to actually make the car go straight again. Old pre skid control cars don't care much about this though it has be fairly close so the box or rack doesn't run out of travel in one direction or the clock spring doesn't get damaged.

They do not have sensors on the steering wheel to determine if the car is going straight. The wheel position is rarely straight and is skewed based on the crown of the road.
