Hi Folks,

Sadly my wife’s used R1S woke up a week ago with 110F cabin temp and a critical battery fault. Towed to Hudson SC. Folks there found an HVAC issue at first, swapped the HVAC out, and then, as I kind of expected, when the tow came to pick it up, another HV Battery fault occurred.

So, now they’re waiting on a new Large Pack and hopefully it will fall under warranty.

Anyone else been through this? I’m trying to silver lining that if the battery will not have the 86k miles of degradation it clearly had on it…

Had a replacement done on my R1T last summer at about 75k. It took several weeks, mostly because they had to wait on the pack. Swap itself takes a day or two. You will almost certainly be getting a manufactured pack, but the one I got showed more capacity than the original did when it came out (which was still very little degradation). It will be covered under warranty and won’t change the length of the original warranty.
I ended up trading my truck for another used R1T with lower miles due to issues unrelated to the HV battery. My old truck is still in the Rivian fleet somewhere. HV battery failures in these trucks still seem really rare overall.
