Indeed. It's not currently compatible with Gen 2 simply because there hasn't yet been any work put in to port OP over to it. I'll bet once Rivian starts charging a subscription fee for RAP+ that there will be some more interest in doing so.@gerrylum will know better than I on the progress, but they have been trying to recruit a couple of Gen 2 owners to try to get it going.
That being said, if you have a Gen 2 and are willing to be a guinea pig, Lukas is looking for volunteers to help create a Gen 2 port. Let me know.
If we eventually ARE able to port it, Openpilot does have many advantages over the current state of Gen 2 autonomy including the fact it works on ANY road and even off-road environments. Then there are forks like Sunnypilot that have what I would now consider essential features like MADS that I can't imagine NOT having anymore.Apologies in advance if this should already be self evident, but is the added value of this less for a Gen 2 (May 2025 build) R1S?
