It really is much simpler than all the videos and discord commentary make it seem. The hardest part is getting into the footwell and connecting the harness. Even then it's not TECHNICALLY difficult - it's PHYSICALLY difficult.

After that, it's just a matter of pressing a few buttons to get everything started, especially if you want to start with "vanilla" Openpilot.
Thanks! I could probably recruit someone with smaller hands to reach in there, but ideally, I’d like to drop it off without needing urgent care—for my arm or my soul. And please, no vanilla setup—I’m all in for Sunny Pilot or whatever the Rivian hive mind recommends as the best option.

That's awesome! Keep in mind that Lukas has removed the power connection on his harness so an external power source will be required either with an OBD-II Comma Power connection or his fuse tap.
Good to know! So I need to order this as well since I didn't order the comma harness? https://comma.ai/shop/comma-power

It’s the set up that gives me pause since the space is so small and there are other wires back there that could get damaged.
Damage to other wires is unlikely. No reason to use anything sharp in the area. Disengaging the OEM harness connector requires pushing on a tab, but there's no reason a plastic device wouldn't suffice there.

This has been a question ever since cruise control was invented. As silly then as it is now.
Why don't you want to modulate your own brakes in a skid, shift your own gears in traffic, turn on your headlights when it gets dark, adjust your wiper speed, crank your windows, modulate throttle when you lose traction, brake and power wheels independently in a turn (good luck with that), and turn your front tires with only your muscles? Not all of us want a carborated air cooled 911 with manual steering all the time. Why do people think that having a good adas prevents them from turning it off when the driving gets fun? I love my Comma so much. It's made me fall in love with my Rivian all over again. I love taking it on road trips now. Being able to turn on steering assistance on rural backroads while taking in the scenery is wonderful. And when I feel like carving up corners, it's simple to disengage. I will never own another vehicle that doesn't have an adas as good as Comma. Once you have it, you can't go back. I turned my brother onto it and he just installed it in his Lexus. He said, "this is the best piece of tech I've purchased since the original iphone." It's an absolute steal at $799. I'd happily pay twice that.

Good to know the Comma is coming from the US, but I was actually asking about Lucas' harness, I might support him but if there are potentially tariffs on it, it gets to be pretty pricey.
I've met him on multiple occasions. He's the nicest guy. I don't think the tarrifs are an issue. He mailed me something and there weren't any other fees.

Or you can order the fuse tap from Lukas as well. Seems him a note and he'll get it on the same shipment.

OBD power is on all the time. There is a timer to turn off the comma after X time to keep it from being a constant draw.

Fuse tap is on when the vehicle is active.
IMO, the fusetap is the better option for power. The fusebox is right in the passenger footwell also so you don't have to run a long wire from the OBD-II port. And it keeps the OBD-II port free.

Oh man, I just bought one two weeks ago and they don’t price match. Guess I’ll have to return and purchase a new one.

If you buy both from Lukas, it knocks off 100 euros

OH! That makes it totally worth it to support him, I was on the fence about longitudinal, but I suppose I might as well

Agh, I really wanted to get the 3X on the next sale but I just ordered my gear tunnel slide for my camp kitchen build.

I'll have to wait for the Christmas sale or something I guess

Black Friday will be here before you know it. There might be a Labor Day deal too.
