I'm still holding out hope that the max is 180kwh and they are severely limiting the top end until it gets more testing then they will unlock more of the pack like they did with the large. It's not what I think they are going to do just what I hope

What I was promised and reserved in 2018 (and waited all this time for) is MUCH different than what Rivian is building. What a huge disappointment.

A 450+mi Cybertruck for less $$ and better charging infrastructure is now officially the obvious choice.

Not buying a Cybertruck here. I may go with the Atlis XT -- their charging technology is supposedly super fast. But also hoping the camp kitchen comes back in time for my R1T order to make my decision harder. Agreed that my Jan 2020 pre-order looks much different now.

What's the cost of a 450+ mile Cybertruck?

From Rivian:

Hi Doug,
Your R1T has been updated to Performance Dual-Motor AWD and Max pack.

(I actually did successfully log in shortly after posting this)

Updated new Max Pack specs from configurator on 4/5/23 (posted by @RivianXpress)

300 miles - Dual Motor - 20” - LARGE PACK
350 miles - Dual Motor - 21” - LARGE PACK
320 miles - Dual Motor - 22” - LARGE PACK

335 miles - Dual Motor - 20” - MAX PACK
400 miles - Dual Motor - 21” - MAX PACK
360 miles - Dual Motor - 22” - MAX PACK

Currently Shipping
274 miles - Quad Motor - 20” - LARGE PACK
328 miles - Quad Motor - 21” - LARGE PACK
303 miles - Quad Motor - 22” - LARGE PACK
I missed if someone already asked this but whats the reason the 20" Large pack quad motor does less range than the 20" large pack dual motor? Is it weight or something much more efficient in the dual motors or what?

They are still advertising 11k lbs for towing capacity, but haven't said anything on payload. My bet is payload is going down (unless they sand bagged the current GVWR), and I've been waiting for them to release this info because I need >1600 lbs, and most trims already don't make that on the Large pack.

Do people like the 21s enough for any reason other than range? ?. I’m just curious. Because when I found out I could do a tire swap for the same range I said screw that. Wonder if there would be a big enough market to sell my 21s as full size spares.
I'm getting the 21" for the range only, love the look of the 20's but I don't want to pay extra for the wheels and tire, and then pay for another set of tires just to get the same range again....are there even All seasons you can get on those 20's that will get you back up to the same range or better?

Currently there doesn't seem to be any choice on replacements for the 21's either, and manufacturer tires always suck and don't last worth @#$@!

Pretty lame, IMO... Not quite the max pack we were promised, nor even what was still being talked about a few months ago. No Max Pack option for the R1S it seems, even though it was specifically mentioned recently, maybe it's still coming... We've already tapped out on the R1T after getting a Lightning. My wife is very interested in the R1S to replace our Model Y, but range is one of the biggest factors here. The dual-motor with off-road package R1S (20" wheels, etc...) is rated at up to 300 miles. If a max-pack dual motor gets us in the neighborhood of 340+ we will probably do it if they allow pricing to transfer over -- I've been given conflicting info on that from multiple sources. As in they don't actually know. It's not that we need 340 miles one-way, but she routinely does a longer commute route that our Model Y falls short on in winter temps/weather. So more range is desired and we'll wait to upgrade to get a new vehicle that can actually do it.
But why do you need the off road tires? Sounds like you should get the 21s and then you’d be fine.

you can go with a 60 series tire on the 20" wheels (there's threads about here on that) and they would be the same circumference as the 21" wheels.

I'm torn between the 20 & 21" wheels myself. If I were to go with either and replaced with OEM tires, I'd hold Pirelli to that 50k warranty.

If you just go for the base Max pack and nothing else then pre-March order holders seem to be getting a 600 hp, 400 mile R1T for less than $70K ($69.5K) after tax credit -

Makes me wonder if I should downgrade my LG quad motor R1T...

Sure, but what’s the ETA on delivery? Mine says “processing”. I just paid into the RAM rev preorder “club” which is late 2024 ETA for an estimated 500 mile range vehicle. I also have a Hummer EV reservation and 2 Cybertruck reservations. At this rate Rivian will simply lose many of their preorders to the competition and end up with many preorder vehicles flipped/traded.

The R1T store is packed right now. Hard to imagine people having the patience to continue waiting indefinitely when you can get something in 6-8 weeks with pretty decent range specs.

I bet they allow us to purchase the "Performance Dual Motor" as a software update after purchase of the truck. Kind of like Tesla does with their acceleration boost.
I asked that question and they said No, it can't be purchased later, which really sucks, I wanted to make sure to get under the 80k for the tax credit (even though I signed the purchase agreement). And then purchase the enhanced after.

Pirelli does not have a warranty on the 21 inch tires at all. Those are Scorpion Verde All Seasons. The warranty would exist for the scorpion Verde All season plus or plus II.

The Scorpion All Terrain Plus does have a warranty, but Pirelli claims that it doesn't cover the Riv-Elect tires because they are OEM tires regardless of where you buy them. You may have better luck than I do.

I think for those worried about excessive tire wear looking for warranty support are going to be moving away from the elect tires altogether and putting a 275/60 r20 tire hoping for a range boost relative to OEM offerings,or putting an E rated 275/65 r20 AT tire. At my rubber wear rate, I'd be looking at $3000 per year to replace with OEM 21s. That puts a significant dent in my fuel savings.
