    2024.11 - Petro & Electrify Canada

A few folks posted in another thread that they have been successful at Shell, Petro and EC since the update.

How is DC fast charging going for my Canadian R1 drivers?

I donā€™t charge past 70% or so unless I really need it, and definitively not past 80% because the charge rate drops a lot at that point.

Tesla FSD Full Self Driving & Rivian ?

I would rather Rivian went with another vendor (e.g. Mobileye) that would continue to include ultrasonic and radar. I really like the cross-traffic radar on my truck vs my 2018 Model 3. I also like the parking assistance from that the ultrasonic sensors allow. But I agree that Rivian should farm...

My AirPods sound better/Have more bass than Truck

How old is your truck? I have found mine became better after a few months. A few people have put subs under the seat to get more oomph but after mine "broke in" I've been ok with it enough not to bother upgrading it.

    R1T heads to Australia!

Iā€™m wondering if this is a way for them to test the waters there. Both NZ and AU buy petrol trucks of this size, so perhaps the R1T would do better there proportionately as compared to NA. I expect there are some markets that would love to get the R1T outside of NA!

Tesla recalls all 3,878 Cybertrucks over faulty accelerator pedal

I watched the repair video where they drill a hole in the pedal and insert a rivet. One thing that struck me is that the accelerator seemed really close to the floor, which created the opportunity for the faceplate of the pedal to get stuck behind the floor mat. Are all pedals like this or was...

    R1T heads to Australia!

Interesting article came out on a deal announced today for a mining support company to start importing R1Ts for use in mines in Australia. https://thedriven.io/2024/04/22/australia-contractor-signs-deal-with-rivian-to-provide-electric-utes-at-mine-sites/ They get a nice jab at the Cybertruck...

Should RJ try to get the exiting Tesla execs?

Drew leaving surprised me! I think he has the potential to be a good add.

How is DC fast charging going for my Canadian R1 drivers?

I've had my truck since September '23. My summary from my experiences in BC over several road trips: FLO hardware/network: only the 50 and 100kW units are here in BC. Have had no issues with them. Note that you will only get ~85kW from the "100" units because they have low max amp rating of...

On the Run chargers don't show in navigation

As many of my fellow Canadian R1 owners know, the On the Run (Chevron) network does not show up in either the vehicle system or the app system at all. I noticed this disparity several months ago and kept thinking they would fix it, but they still haven't, so today I started a "chat" with a...

7-pin power to trailer LiB while driving

interesting! Do you have a voltmeter on your TT battery to see what it is pushing to the battery? Iā€™ve read many ICE alternators canā€™t push sufficient voltage so the LiB doesnā€™t get full enough to balance.

    Silverado pricing -- ouch...

Iā€™ve noticed most manufacturers except Rivian and Tesla donā€™t charge the actual exchange rate to sell into our country - it does skew what makes sense for us financially.

7-pin power to trailer LiB while driving

Do you know what the wire gauge is to the 7-pin? Could I go higher than 20A up to below the 35A fuse?

My Max Pack Rivian Delivered! šŸ™Œ

the graphs etc are pretty but he hasnā€™t made any attempt to normalize them to standard conditions so they are essentially useless for direct comparisons (unless the two vehicles were tested the same day in same conditions).

Ford "PRICE WAR" drives RIVN under $10

Because as RJ has said, people need compelling choices. The R1T is a choice, and Rivian won't survive with one vehicle type. The line is not production constrained after the factory updates this year, so make the mix that the market wants. I agree that they shouldn't produce a bunch of R1Ts that...

Cybertrucks in the wild - quick comment

I have zero intention of trying one. I've already had the plus/minus experience from owning a Model 3 for the last 5 years, and they've continued with the mistakes on the 3/Y and added new ones (e.g. removal of ultrasonic sensors and radar, no stalks, inaccessible bed, no legit room for a spare...

Cybertrucks in the wild - quick comment

I wasted 8 mins (1.5x speed lol) watching this crap. He apparently had a hard time changing lanes until drive by wire came along.

Cybertrucks in the wild - quick comment

I don't understand this as a past-time lol. I could have biked through all of that far faster and had more fun on the way down. Or even hike it!
