To replace the camper portion of my Rivian I am working on a van build.

I am debating buying a cheap ($<10k) EV for local errands and what not but I'll wait until after the holidays.

Longer term I am undecided.

I'm surprised you hate yourself that much. Perhaps see a therapist.

Ive got plenty of reasons to seek therapy, not sure hating myself is one of them

Maybe I can actually afford some now that I don't need to pay Rivian for repairs.

At least until you run the van warranty out

Best of luck to you, I enjoyed reading many of your posts. I am in the same boat as you, sold my truck Saturday 12/7 for the same exact reasons..... Service, Service and Service. Rivian has always gone above and beyond but they pissed me off last Friday and that was the last straw with them. A few weeks before they had my truck for 23 days straight, which is ridiculous. Then they tried charging me for something 3 other service people told me was free. The service manager called me after I wrote an email to customer service and told me they were going to cover it. I told him I was selling my truck regardless and they still took care of the bill. They definitely try and do the right thing, regardless service will be their downfall if they don't get it all squared away. I love the looks and luxurious truck interior but fearful of long term reliability since I drive 30K miles annually. Only thing I miss in the new car is Charge percent and range, aside from that everything else seems more refined as well as more powerful. Best of luck on your future endeavors!

You gonna wait for one of the new Scouts?
They seem like a decent option but I haven't done a deep dive. Luckily I don't think I need another vehicle before this summer at the earliest.

Top gear solved this problem years ago

Haha, but seriously

I find it odd that in the ENTIRE WORLD there is no SUV/VAN with a built in toilet in the back. From the US to China. From places with hardly any traffic backups to places with traffic backups that last for over a day.

You have to drive an RV if you want a built in toilet to use for the passenger.

Quite a few conversion vans don't even have a toilet.

There is no toilet offering on any of the ID Buzz conversions I've seen.

If I go through with this I'll probably be the ONLY person to have converted an ID Buzz into a fancy Toilet on wheels.

Probably less expensive to leave the GF at home.

If I'm lucky Starbucks will open up EV chargers at every Starbucks in the nation so every time she needs to pee I can get a quick charge.

OP, I’m also sorry to see you sell and hope you land in a solid R2 (and back on the forum) soon.

I appreciate your posts and contributions to the Rivian community. Thanks! Hope you have many great adventures ahead.

What were some of the out of warranty costs you had to deal with?

My model S cost me $2400 over 225k miles and I thought that was pretty good. I'm worried what the Rivian will be...

Sorry to see you go @jjswan33!

As more early R1 vehicles start to age or mile out of warranty, I think many more are going to be concerned about repair prices in the months to come.

Best of luck in the future!

EDITED to reflect warranty details
