Well after 65k miles and over 2.5 years of ownership I sold my launch edition R1T today. Sad to see it go and it's been an adventure.

Why I decided to sell:

- Service
- Service
- Service
- Cost of ownership of an out of warranty vehicle

This isn't a thread to complain about service, some times they got it right but it's not a consistent experience and not a good recipe with an aging vehicle.

Still a stock owner, will consider a Rivian again (still have an R2 reservation) but for now this is good bye.

Photos of some highlights.

Really sorry to see you go, you taking the risk with Oru helped out quite a few people!

On that note, out of curiosity did you sell the truck with the camper included? Did you just take the loss on it? Is it now a Casita in your backyard?

I sold the camper to some dude with a 2024 Tacoma a few weeks ago, it didn't really fit but he thought he could make it work. Didn't get a great price but it's out of season and very specific and I wanted it off the truck. Coincidentally I seen the buyer was trying to resell the camper on Facebook.. for more than I sold it to him ($7500)... lol

Wish you all the best and I hope they do get service figured out by the time the R2 is rolling out. They better or they will be in bad shape.

Thanks for being so helpful to the owners that came after you!

Give Kooper a steak for me... and I suppose you can have one with him if you like

Aw man, that's unfortunate. I was going to ask about the camper also but see you already answered that. Did you take off the wrap or sell as-is?

Do you mind sharing a quick summary of your service issues?

What vehicle did you move to?
To replace the camper portion of my Rivian I am working on a van build.

I am debating buying a cheap ($<10k) EV for local errands and what not but I'll wait until after the holidays.

Longer term I am undecided.

Currently I have a Rivian R1T for my main transportation and a Winnebago Revel for my Camper Vehicle.

The Winnebago Revel doesn't get as much use as I'd like so I'm trying to decide what to replace that with.

I might simply get a small camper to tow with the R1T. But, I'm Meh on that idea.

I really don't want to tow anything and I love having the bathroom in my Revel for the GF who needs to pee once an hour.

So maybe I'll get a VW Buzz ID and I'll install a toilet in the back. Haha

Honestly not any major issues right now. I did notice a bad strut in the rear while rotating the tires, buyer is aware of the issue. Also have had a safety recall on the books forever. You are probably aware but yes been a number of other suspension issues over the years. 7 air shocks replaced, 2 compressors, rear subframe, rear light bar twice and a whole host of other smaller issues.

My biggest issue with service is just how it operates. There is no accountability and if you don't press the issue then things just get lost. For example recently I have been getting 'Service Suspension Soon' errors and have an open recall. Every couple of weeks I get a call from Rivian, I explain the issues and they tell me they understand and need to reach out to the service center. Every time they promise to follow up next day and they never do.

Sorry to see you give up the Rivian, but you were one that seemed to get the most out of your truck...and I enjoyed watching your build from afar and always considered you one of the "good guys" on this forum. Best of luck on future builds and adventures!

Cheers!

Well, its inconsistent at best. I've had mostly minor issues and a few bigger ones, but Rivian always followed up and got my issues resolved. But other folks can probably echo what you've experienced. That, including the wait times is not a great experience for customers.

Strongly suggest a 2019 or newer leaf SL plus, has every option and the biggest battery, it's what I do the vast majority of my daily driving in, I've had two I bought this latest one for 10k a year ago. I sold my rivian a year ago, and canceled my other reservation I was saving for a new build when they "jumped the shark" with the max pack. I liked the truck but it's too expensive to have so many limitations and issues. To build a launch edition truck right now as close to launch edition specs, you're teetering on 100k.
