Got it, please keep us posted as you learn more.

(the conspiracy theory part of me is wondering if "in production" is just a phrase that has been given guides so that they can appease us impatient folks... I have had a vehicleID for 2 weeks now, but no signs of real progress since...)

My guide has been the opposite of yours. He has been responsive, clear in communication and answers questions seemingly honestly.

I wrote it elsewhere, but the guides only see a status with no detail. It's general statuses like "pre-production", "in production", "post inspection", "shipped", "at delivery center". Inside each of these steps they have no visibility. I asked if those are the statuses and he said "Not to oversimplify it, but yes, our updates are basically those types of statuses. Enough for us to understand but not in detail".

So, you can imagine how hard it is to give an update when they see "pre-production" every day for 2 weeks.

Good points.

Btw, do you happen to know if the statuses above in quotes are the actual statuses, or were those just illustrative examples?

Thanks! I got further clarification today that a VIN is assigned as vehicle nears the end of production at which point the 8-step process can begin. In my case, after production, shipping to the West Coast can take "a couple weeks" as can the subsequent inspection process (depending on how busy it is at the local center".

Those are just my own examples based on our discussions. My guide didn't specifically confirm them, but said they were like that.

Essentially a shipped status could be mean ready for shipment and not picked up, on the truck / train traveling, at the local train depot, picked up by last mile or delivered to service center and not inventoried yet. I'd imagine those various stages of shipping could be a week span.

Mine has been sitting on the lot in Normal (i presume) for 4 days waiting to be shipped. It was "finished production" since Monday. My guide will update me when the status changes and we can get a sense of how long the next part takes.

Another interesting thing: Guides only have about a dozen active orders at a time. They are not so overwhelmed that they wouldn't notice a status change. However, I get the impression a small number of people are VERY high maintenance and eat up the vast majority of their time.

Went to Orlando to pick it up May 10 at 1300. I had my First Mile test drive on May 7th at my house. Right after that test drive I got a text that my truck was at the service center and ready to go. I had the option of driving to Orlando on May 10 to get it or wait until the 16th for them to deliver it to me. Wait to the 16th, yeah right!

Mine has over two dozen active deliveries apparently.

My current Guide curiosity is wondering if true or not that you can engage Guide regarding currently available R1T's (VINs unassigned at present) and chat about your willingness to take other paint colors or even BM vs. FE interior. Honestly I would be perfectly happy with 3 or 4 other colors and BM is really fetching because its not really black - its a dark rich gray. I even like the muted look of the black-washed wood trim. Of course I love the fetching look of the brown walnut wood.

A few people have posted pretty much saying this is possible and they did it. My only guide contact so far (all 10 minutes of it) never got a chance to cover this topic.

Yes, that very much seems to be the case, @LoneStar. I plan to say "Look, I'll take anything except black or white, plus any wheels and with or without off-road package is fine!"

-- I figure, wheels can be changed (I'll probably want 2 seasonal sets anyway), and while I will be hitting some rough trails, I won't be doing technical rock crawling

Note that not all guides seem helpful in that regard. Many are, though, and some seem super helpful. There's a thread just about "active guides".

Got the guide email on 5/15 - initial call on 5/16 signed the PBA while on the call - got a truck assigned later that day as there was one on the lot that went unclaimed. I was originally configured with the black mountain interior, but since this was available and I actually like the forest edge wood a lot better I took it.

I'm out of town this week, so I should be able to have the truck delivered next week.

Took delivery Saturday May 14th. Originally scheduled for Thursday May 12th, but was cancelled as my truck hadn't even made it to the service center in Houston yet. They flatbed it to me in Austin. Only a few cosmetic issues that were noted by my delivery guide.

Congrats @Jsidell

Let's keep posting and showing off more LE LG FE's (or Forest Green, or pretty much anything with FE interior)

Would like to think the momentum is rising but the "I got mine" posts are just here and there occasionally.

1. Rivian is under contract with Nationwide to not steal their customers. So if you already have Nationwide (as I did), they'll refuse to offer you insurance. However, because they had to refuse you, they will allow you to obtain the same benefits that being a Rivian Insurance holder would otherwise have (access to insight on factory replacement parts?) if you insure the Rivian directly through Nationwide. This was great for me as it's exactly what I wanted anyway.
Just a heads up to others, they apparently have the same setup with Cincinnati. They did offer to quote Nationwide but said Cin would probably still be better. I need to follow up and confirm if they will have the same benefits as "Rivian Insurance".

Took delivery this morning. 🎉 Pics when it stops raining (which is an Oregonian phrase meaning "never").

Quote of the day:
"That's a weird truck." -- Overheard from lady saying to her companion waiting at a crosswalk that I was driving past.

I should not have waited until yesterday to measure my garage. This truck is much longer than I expected. Word of warning. :p It fits, but I had to clear it completely front to back -- there's about a foot to spare.
