Given that TireRack states the tires weigh 48lbs each(https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tire...vian&autoYear=2022&autoModel=R1T&autoModClar=), that leaves the forged wheel at 40lbs. For a 20" wheel at that size, there is a lot of weight savings to be had. Getting a 30lbs wheel is easy and that is a 40lbs rotational weight savings.I don't know for sure, but I doubt anyone with the forged R1T 20's are going to save any weight on another forged aftermarket 20" wheel. The combined weight of the OEM tire and wheel seems very light compared to most any combination I've come across......YMMV
We'll find out the end of next week the weight when my wheels arrive. A 4WD vehicle that weighs over 7000lbs requires a robust wheel, which would equate to weight.....Given that TireRack states the tires weigh 48lbs each(https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tire...vian&autoYear=2022&autoModel=R1T&autoModClar=), that leaves the forged wheel at 40lbs. Looking forward to seeing the results, the design you came up with is exactly what I'm looking for on my Forest Green model. I'm working with HRE at the moment, tooWe'll find out the end of next week the weight when my wheels arrive. Whatever HRE comes up with is always classic.........Looking forward to seeing the results, the design you came up with is exactly what I'm looking for on my Forest Green model. I'm working with HRE at the moment, too
Very cool! Thanks for blazing the trail!Update......Looking good......should be on the truck by next Saturday assuming powder comes out good on all the wheels....hardware is gloss black....
My guess 28.5-29.5lbs.We'll find out the end of next week the weight when my wheels arrive. A 4WD vehicle that weighs over 7000lbs requires a robust wheel, which would equate to weight.....
Once the wheels are on the truck and fitment is confirmed, I'll post all the details and Robert from Element Wheels (Variant is the house brand) will set pricing, color and availability. He is absolutely going after the Rivian market and it's a niche that suits his business well. They are headquartered in Chandler, AZ and I have no personal inside relationship with them, they have just built me wheels for other vehicles before.Very cool! Thanks for blazing the trail!
Can you post under your pic wheel size and width, weight, offset, and price and public availability?
Is designing the wheel to clear the calipers going to be less of an issue for 21"+ wheels?Because of the huge dish required to build these (clear the caliper)....
Probably not, the caliper is still the same widthIs designing the wheel to clear the calipers going to be less of an issue for 21"+ wheels?
So it is the thickness of the caliper not the diameter/length that is making the fit tricky?Probably not, the caliper is still the same width
It's a combination of the two and also the way Rivian tucks the entire wheel and tire combination up inside the fenderwells with the vehicle in the lowest ride height settings. So it is the thickness of the caliper not the diameter/length that is making the fit tricky?
