I've been told I'm the great minority on this one- I just don't care for AA/AC... what's is the point of mirroring my phone? Most time I know where I'm going and don't need to follow nav, I don't text much while driving either...Not a Tesla owner either to have a first hand experience with their...
Keeping the T for as long as I can too. Looked really hard at new and used R1S, we need the 3rd row and wanted electric, but they were just too old in terms of tech to buy and hold for 3 to 5 years. Got a loaded Ioniq 9 lease at an absolute silly rate, will dump it in 3 years. will see where...
Love that they gave SG access as well! The segment with the chief engineer is very informative. @DuoRivian
The stamped steel subframe displayed is a significant downgrade...but given the goal of cost cutting to get base $45k model it makes sense. At $70k+, not so much..
One thing I tend to...
Just by expressing doubt and thinking about this 12v issue being the end of his Rivian, sounds like the Count has made his mind already...
3.5 years on my 12v, $400 some dollars mobile service within a week of the 12v notification, and 65k miles, plus full suspension update prior to the comp...
I tried to purchase a R1S for my wife recently. Worked with two sales advisors and both independently described the R1S as top luxury...they were really talking it up. I told them, I've had myT for the past 4 years, and have number of BMW vehicles, one of them individual composition 7 series...
Awesome color! Super brave move from the Alpina.
1000% on the throttle feel or the lack there of. It makes the vehicle feel much less agile than it is.
Enjoy it!
I'm thinking the R2 will cause the R1S used market, especially the G1, to drop in price. My thought is that some or many current R1S owners "over bought" in terms of size and seats, and the R2 actually is the one they need.
Let me emphasize on the tailgate top trim piece- I'm on my freaking fourth one! No matter now careful I am loading unloading stuff, it rips out! The new and improved version from Rivian is rubbery, as in it catches on stuff even more!
I'm keeping mine as long as it makes sense as I'm out of warranty at 60k.
RE: suspension. I got the gen 2 dampers, asked the tech about the air suspension. He said the leaky gen 1 dampers are the problem, seen very few air bags failures. That gives me hope and some confidence.
Yep, Gen 2 damper made by Firestone, front half shafts, and ting washers. Truck rides much much better. Planning on driving it as long it makes sense with future repairs out of warranty
Sweet. I'm at 60k and got lot of suspension upgrades right before the warranty expires, so I should be good for another 60k at least.
Thank you for the post, confidence inspiring!
Hope Rivian corporate is reading this.
HUGE props to RVA SC. Fantastic communication by Tony throughout the time my truck was in. They replaced my dampers with the Gen2 Firestone ones, half shafts, ting washers, lines, steering wheel, PTC, some trim. The truck rides better than when it was...
Wow, amazing adventures, OP!
Even more amazing tolerance for all the issues and limiting factors this R1S have presented you with and your SOTA hobby!
Cheers to you!
No one seems to be talking about right to repair...All the lux brands mentioned above have a good alternative- independent specialty repair shops at anywhere 30% to 50% of what the brand name dealership would charge. Then we have the ability to buy quality OEM parts from online stores and DIY...
I have similar thing happening with loss of power for a moment while going over bridge expansion joints. I thought it was my foot moving off the accelerator pedal, after number of repeat events I have ruled any foot movement out. Curious to what CS will do for you.
Yeah, my PTC is also...
