I hope it works well! I'm starting to lean towards the Cooktron after some of the other commentary on this thread. It looks nearly identical to the Greecho, but has some better reviews. The downside is that it will go to 1,800W. I know that will cause issues at some point (particularly as my kids are getting old enough to cook on occasion), but I think a software reset is manageable.
Do you have a link to the one you bought?

I'm trying to make this decision now myself and part of me wants to just get a gas burner but the other part of me thinks induction would just be simpler.... I do love that BBQ though

I bought this one.

As a further update, I used it in the R1T at full power, and no issues.

I like it enough that I've been doing a lot of my home cooking with it. It is WAY better than my propane camp stove. It's better than my home stovetop in a lot of ways. I may have a full size induction stove in my future.

Using it with the lid gives a solid temp boost too.

Great thanks. Iā€™ll have to give it a try. Appreciate it.

I assume youā€™re using the bed outlets?

Check out the NuWave Flex induction cooktop. Has a setting for max wattage 600/900/1200.
I have the nuwave flex and it works well

Even if the peak power draw on your induction stove is too much for the outlet in your R1T, you can usually just run it a lower power setting and it will work just fine.

Frustrated by the output and efficiency of the onboard 120v transformer in R1T, I switched to a 2400w power bank in the bed to sidestep the issue and I'm happy I made the switch. Now I can run my induction stove at 1800w and still have capacity left over for other appliances. Something else to keep in mind, some of these induction stoves will still pull >75w even when they're "off." Turning off your outlet or unplug it if you aren't going to use it for a while can save a lot of power.

Yep. It works well there. I may get some type of silicon mat to put around it for grease splatters and cooking utensils.

Thank you for this. Have a big camping trip in a few weeks and upgrading my stuff - this was part of the upgrades. Just put an order in for the one you bought too. Thank you!

Just replaced my regular house electric range with induction. Will never be without one again. I think itā€™s even better than gas.

I second this. Having used all three (old school electric, gas, induction), induction is by far my favorite. You can near instantaneous temp control, no open flame, and the flat cooktop is really easy to keep clean. I favor cast iron cookware regardless, so this is the best of all worlds, IMO.

Iā€™m going to order this today for a camping trip Iā€™m doing next weekend. Has it been working well for you still? Iā€™m planning to get a magnetic Mika pot for coffee and a kettle. Eventually Iā€˜ll probably get some cast iron pots, but will just use the griddle and a small steel pot I already have. Any other tips and tricks for best use?

I think buying one is the right call, but damnit, I need to not spend money on more

It's still working well. I've found it's better for cooking some things than others. I've been entirely using it around the house without much in the way of recent outdoor adventures.

It heats more evenly and temperature control is WAY superior compared with my electric stove. I'm much less likely to burn pancakes due to my natural impatience. The overall quality of my cooking has improved.

On the downside, it just doesn't get as hot as my other griddle. This means it's nearly impossible to crisp hash-browns. I can only make it work if I'm using a single burner at max power instead of spreading everything across both burners. This is just a limit of physics when you're spreading 1,700W across two burners instead of my normal stove that puts out 2,400W from a single burner. You'd have similar issues with any other dual-burner cooktop.

I need to figure out a place to put greasy cooking utensils and the lid that aren't the tailgate while camping. I'm guessing I would regret grease on the tailgate for a variety of reasons. Particularly visiting bear country.

Just be sure to double check your cookware works with induction before using it outdoors. Most of my pots and pans work with it, but the one that doesn't was my favorite pot for taking camping.
