Our current vehicle has the capability to run electronics (up to 1500W) off of the car's battery. We're waiting on an R1S, where camp kitchen won't be an option, but plugging cooking items in might be. Previously we've been using a small dual burner coleman stove with a small propane tank to cook while camping or adventuring. I'm thinking that I'd like to get some sort of electric grill or induction surface. Anybody have something you love? or something that at least gets the job done pretty well.

(space was at a premium in our last car. We have a bit more space now, but also three kids and luggage, backpacks, etc on trips)

Get a toaster over. I took one camping and tailgating. A hit at both places. I had to buy a different one because our huge one at home was 1800w. A good excuse for a special rivian appliance. Haha

We’ve got this one. I think the wattage is a little dishonest because we’ve never tripped the breaker using it above 2000W total according to the display but it’s nice to have the two burners.

FWIW I have pulled more than 1500W from the truck too and never tripped the breaker but the microwave would spin but not cook so while the breaker didn’t trip the truck couldn’t supply more than 1500W

If you get a Canadian model of induction burner, they limit the 120V to 1500W. Their electrical code is more strict I think. Also, the good ones will cycle with less power when running at lower levels. The cheaper ones will just be full on or full off. So, if you can't provide the full watts, I don't know what it'll do.

Anyone try a Blackstone Electric griddle yet? It is listed at 1600W, but also 120V-10A, so that would be 1200W.

I have a Blackstone electric grill and it works perfectly. I've used it multiple times plugged into the truck and never tripped a breaker or anything

Good to know that is an option. I like the idea of keeping the cooking all electric, but the Camp Chef gas stove/oven someone posted a while ago has really been speaking to me.

I've tripped the inverter off testing out dead shorts on it. It seems like unless the overload is very significant, it sags the voltage in order to keep the load around 1500W. With our dometic stovetop, fridge, and fairy lights going all at the same time, you can watch it sag the voltage in the intensity of the lights as they pulse brightness with the stove's output changing. I haven't used my kill-a-watt to measure or anything else for fear of killing those things since they tend not to like being overloaded.
