No definitely screwed it on. I use a similar adapter with my Dewalt portable. That said I can’t get the other connector to seat far enough over the adapter.

it’s possible I replaced the adapter at some point and this one is wider but I thought they were all pretty much the same, also don’t recall using it.
I have noticed the Schrader head they shipped with the vehicle needs to be pushed on really far compared to what should be necessary. Could be your adapter isn't letting it on far enough to depress the valve core.

Oh, and since you are tubeless... I always give my presta valves a quick push down after opening them to help break any seal the sealant might have created at the valve.

Too much trouble to use the rivian one. I bought a battery powered one on Amazon for $23 and a second party presta adapter and it works quite well. I charge it like once every 2 months. No cords to unwind or wrap up. Definitely the way to go.

Thanks for the offer, enough air in my tires to ride so no worries.

Was camped out near Nederland for a few days riding. Going to be meeting up with family in Idaho Springs if you have a go to suggestion for a short ride in that area.
I coulda' helped you around Ned, but unfortunately Idaho Springs is one of the areas I'm not terribly familiar with. That's an "on the way to somewhere else" town for me. I know Floyd Hill is pretty popular. Good luck, have fun!

I keep a travel floor pump in the truck.

But I always pump my tires up at home before a ride.

I never use the truck to inflate bicycle tires—that would be too much trouble. I assume you are running tubeless on your MTB. If it is difficult to seat the beads on tubeless tires, you might want a floor pump with an overcharge reservoir
I agree, I always throw my floor pump in the vehicle when I take my bike.

The mountain bike I pump before I leave the house but the road bike I usually pump at the destination. If it is really hot out and road bike tires are fully inflated, especially if inside the R1S stopping anywhere the heat can raise the pressure and pop the tire. You can use pet mode to prevent this but it is just a habit I have developed over the years.

Been there, done that with my old Impreza

I found that I could get consistent results with my mountain bike, but with the smaller volume all-road/gravel tires (35c) the compressor has trouble hitting exact psi, and sometimes overshoots.

Another issue with road tires is that the max target pressure you can set on the rivian compressor is 56 psi. Above that, you have to manually hold the run button.

@SANZC02 what pressure are you running in your tires? Modern tires should absolutely not blow off just due to a 20% increase in pressure due to heat. This was a potential problem back when we ran 23c tires at 120psi, but shouldn't be anymore.

If you put your bike inside an enclosed vehicle with the AC off and the temperature skyrockets inside the vehicle, the increased pressure can blow the tubes. I’ve done this back in the day with 23 mm wide tires at 100 psi when we believed higher pressure was faster.

Is this new/other peoples experience? Personally my compressor on my early build will go higher than 56psi.

My road bike I run 23c at 100, in SoCal inside temps can get pretty hot pretty quick. I had one blow 20+ years ago after that I started letting some air out and just airing up when I’m ready to ride.

The compressor can deliver 150 psi max.

My bad - looks like continuous run (where you don't specify an air pressure) automatically stops at 56, but you can set it to go to a higher pressure.

@Cycliste my point was that modern tires are probably fine - but I'm running 35's at like 50-55 psi on my all road bike.

If you are running skinny tires at high pressures I get that it could still be a concern. Or if you're on tubeless tires on hookless rims, as some of those have pretty low max pressures...?

@Sidney

I’m now riding hookless rims with 30 mm wide tires at 58 psi in the front, and 60 psi in the rear (I’m around 65 kg) and even lower if I’m going to be on especially rough roads. It’s so much more comfy and field tests show it is faster. Cycling has changed so much in the 33 years I’ve been riding.
