I recently purchased a viair 88p air compressor as an improvement over a cheap $20 compressor. I also have the rivian portable compressor because I didn't get the offroad package and so I don't have the built- in compressor. I decided to time how long it would take to reinflate a tire from 30 to 48 psi (275/60r20). I ran the compressors off our trailer battery for consistency. The cheap compressor took 12 minutes and pulled 7 amps at 12.8 volts. The Rivian portable compressor took 6 minutes and pulled 11 amps. I had to file down the ridges on the rivian compressor plug to fit in the 12 volt socket on my battery which is a deeper outlet, although it worked fine in the rivian 12v port. The viair took 2.5 minutes and pulled 16 amps to refill the tire which I was very pleased with. Since the viair has battery clamps I believe I can run it off the battery jump point under the hood on my gen2 R1S. Hopefully this is helpful if someone is looking for a compressor to air up after running trails!
Below are pictures of the compressors and the ridge half filed off the rivian compressor.
