The best way to fix these concerns would be to retrofit every ICE vehicle with a computer that provides highly detailed information on energy consumption and shows the fuel level with a percentage.

Next, replace all energy consumption information in EVs with an analog gauge marked full, half, and empty.

I can easily get 3+ while driving around town, and 2+ on the freeway. What I don't understand is why the graph doesn't go down when you are sitting still. By definition that should be zero, but it just seems to show horizontal at the last real moving number you had. Usually on the graph the only time my numbers are low, or below 2 is shortly after starting my drive when everything is still coming up to temperature.

I'm okay with the efficiency graph with a couple changes.

The black line should be the efficiency expected in the mode you're in. If I switch it to conserve mode the line should go up, but it doesn't.
You should be able to select how many miles you want it to show the history for.

I do wish we had a trip planner energy graph. I felt like that was very useful back when I had a Tesla. I could easy modulate it to make sure I kept on track.

Ideally the trip planner would account for weather.

It does. You just haven't sat long enough, I'm guessing. See this sequence of photos. The gauge went down to 1, then dipped below it, the longer I sat:

I feel like my life is not reflective of the majority of traffic conditions y'all encounter, LOL. ?

I found a great fix for the efficiency graph. I long pressed on the left steering wheel button until the current music playing information appeared. I then left it, and continued to drive as normal without interruption to efficiency.

R1T Quad Motor Large Pack 20" - 289 miles
R1S Quad Motor Large Pack 20" - 287 miles
R1S Dual Motor (Gen 2) Standard Pack 22" - 241 miles

All gen 1 except the last one.

Here's your real range test. Kyle and his team do a great job, and his videos have a ton of information in them. I know not everyone is a fan of his channel, but this is awesome data to have. It's what pushed me to buy an EV if I'm honest. I've learned a lot.
Just keep in mind most of his tests are done at altitude so his mileage will be about 5 to 10% better than many other areas.

It's always been a guess anyway even in ICE cars. Drive my son's Hyundai and it can say 325 miles on a tank or 425, it depends on driving style. Drive all on the highway 425, drive local roads with hard acceleration, 325 or less.

In my wife's I4 it is stated it gets 270 miles of range, locally it is a lot less. On the highway in the 270s. If you are using the motors even less. Frankly I just don't care never have. I enjoy the vehicle and charge for free (solar).

I’m glad someone else noticed. I picked up on this pattern back when they were @NineElectrics. Hoping FourteenElectrics migrates to a Cybertruck forum…

"propaganda"? "dark pattern lie to their customers"?

do you have evidence other than your individual experience? any hard data/facts to back up your claim? what motor, wheels, tires, battery size is your vehicle? what were the driving conditions? weather? any real data before you accuse Rivian of lying?

btw, real world evidence/testing shows Rivian does meet or exceed its advertised range. and both range and efficiency can be impacted by a lot of factors.

EPA tests are done in a lab: "All testing is done in a laboratory on a dynamometer." and those are EPAs number, not Rivian. https://www.epa.gov/greenvehicles/fuel-economy-and-ev-range-testing.

Not sure why they can't make it more useful like the Tesla graph:

Having previously owned a Tesla, I agree that the Tesla energy graph is MUCH more useful. But I think the main reason is that the Tesla graph's x-axis is miles whereas the Rivian graph's x-axis is time(minutes). Looking at the Rivian graph seeing times when I'm getting 4mi/kwh is like WOW, I was a really efficient driver for awhile. Only to later realize that that was the time when I was stopped at a stop light for 60 seconds. I care very little about how many kwh I'm using while I'm stopped at a stop light!
