Setting aside personal preferences about SXM itself, I've been an early subscriber when it was just XM and genuinely enjoy the channel lineup and programming, but the Rivian integration has always had issues, and things seem to be getting worse.
Frequent, random skipping. The playback randomly jumps, either back to the beginning of a song or forward to the next one. It happens constantly. I can barely get through two songs uninterrupted.
Metadata out of sync. The on-screen song and artist info consistently doesn't match what's actually playing. It's always one track behind, which makes it feel like a half-finished integration.
Audio drops despite strong connectivity. Playback pauses for several seconds due to apparent internet issues, even in areas with no cell signal problems. The connection isn't the issue. Something else is dropping the stream.
The new AI Assistant can't control SXM. With the previous Alexa integration, you could just say a channel name and it would switch. The new Rivian AI Assistant doesn't support this at all. It tells you it can't do that and redirects you to tap through the screen manually. That's a step backward, not forward.
P.S. Please also bring back Amazon Music as a native app. Taking this away was rude.
