Now does leasing look like a better option then buying? I wonder what the leasing will look like for the gen 2 quad?

I might be an outlier here but just ran the numbers for my 2022 Launch Edition R1S - only 7k miles on it. Got offered $70k! I mean that's pretty bonkers. Like, good bonkers - right? Edit: the caveat is that I had pre-hike pricing so only paid 77.5k for it.

It's going to be terrible. No subsidized rates to move inventory for Gen 2. Expect the lease to be $1,600-$1,900 for the R1 QM

How many miles? I'm at 49.5k and only got $200 over you.
49k miles for me… they probably factored in my extensive service history, haha

Mine’s $69k for a ‘23 R1S with 9k miles. Not bad… would be a wash with how much I have left on the loan though.

23 R1S QM: 16k miles $64k

If leasing on the TriMotor is cheaper than what I am paying now may do it.

Only $44,110 for my ‘22 LE R1T - think that makes my decision to trade in for a Gen 2 much easier….
Ouch. The sad truth is that EVs are depreciating much more rapidly than ICE vehicles, especially hybrids.

Battery tech, along with other tech in EVs is changing rapidly (as witnessed with Gen 2) and so high depreciation is unfortunately par for the course.

I have been driving electric for 10 years and the advice I give to people is if you find that EV that meets your needs in terms of range, capability, and charging times - then buy it if you feel like it will meet your needs for the next 5 years or beyond.

Otherwise, I tell anyone considering an EV to lease because the risks right now in terms of battery tech, even the charging ports changing are really high for anyone who isn't looking to hold on to their car the long haul. In 3 years, you will take a bath and it doesn't matter the brand. Porsche and Mercedes are just as susceptible.

My advice is unless you are having a lot of issues with your R1 vehicle (hopefully not) then love it for the long haul. You have an incredibly capable off-road vehicle with the heart of an exotic sports car and the receipts to prove it....

I certainly haven't seen dealer pricing reflecting these lows - maybe I need someone who is considering trading in to sell to me.
What are you seeing? Every truck I see is low 60s approaching 50s.

5 year old: $40,000

6 year old: $34,000

7 year old: $28,000

For $#!+$ and giggles i put mine in this morning , just to see. 2024 Dual Motor Performance standard+ with 3k miles, but purchased with a pre-order voucher . Nothing yet.... either way, the Gen 2 equal is too expensive for me now.

Screenshot 2024-07-12 113610.webp
Basically what I paid after pre-order voucher but over $20k from MSRP.
