What will happen is what I said in earlier comments. LE P model still gets made for everyone with a window. They then launch the Premium model with HW3 at the end of the year. If I was Rivian this is what I would do. This way you meet all your public comments on availability.
If you want...
Lease rates will follow the price structure of the Model Y. So, pick the tesla equivalent model and see the rates. Rivian has no incentive to be lower price as the R2 is much more compelling than a model Y.
I ran to all charging locations 100amp capable 4wires. 1 run is far so planned ahead, the other is on the inside of where my panel is.
I agree with everyone on here, run over sized conduit to support the larger 4 wire potential.
I wonder if they are holding cars till the new updated is available to cover the missing items. This would have a huge experience diff for not current owners. They should have had an option to request car now with current software or wait for updated version.
Rivian will need a model change for the production BOM and software plus certification this is why I believe that the more plausible option is to offer a new trim with HW3 and no LE. If they do offer a HW3 LE expect even larger lawsuits. I think Rivian is smarter than the past.
One line can...
Here is a crazy twist I have not seen anywhere.
They keep making P LE models for everyone that has a reservation. But the premium launches with HW3 and no LE. In theory they could make HW3 models and LE models at the same time. The cost would be the same to end user.
A premium with Paint...
Tesla HW 4 uses the same TOPS as the R2 can currently and they have no issue with FSD. Its a bunch of nonsense needing the LiDar to hit L4. Also in Rivian's own words the increased TOPS are needed for on car processing of raw Lidar data... I see no real-world advantage to this.
