beta went live 4 days ago and is deployed today on a small fleet of G1 vehicles and its about a week from beta to public so regardless of the complexity the test period should be fairly consistent
Most releases have been 2-3 weeks from Beta to Public. As VSG said, this is bigger, so we should expect it to take longer.

The simple way to test that explanation is to throw glitter all over the driver seat and turn on the seat ventilation.

But I would have a very difficult time explaining to the service center and my wife why there is glitter all over and in the driver seat.

So I’ll just take your statement as definitive and save myself the anguish. But, if someone is willing to do an experiment in the name of science, please take a video and post it.

Thanks in advance.
Strippers don’t use Glitter much anymore or at least that’s what I hear. To expensive, there’s a glitter shortage.

I received an update today. It is 2024.11.03. Have not installed it yet. To be honest, it appears to be pretty meh, to me. Some navigation and rear display stuff that may appeal to some. A lot of “fixed a rare issue” items. I’ll install it tomorrow and check it out.

Gee, @Singletracker, most of us have had 2024.11.02 or 2024.11.03 since around April. Deployment is often unpredictable, though -- some are delayed for subtle reasons, and some are delayed seemingly for no reason at all.

I always presume updates may include security or safety, so I always install them, but I don't remember being excited by anything in the last update.

All this waiting and conversation kind of has me excited about the next one, though. I'll probably install it a few days after the pioneers do, or when it arrives -- whichever is later.

Best wishes!

I thought they were done with the 2024.11 deployments but was poking around the Electrifi site today and noticed that there were several applied in the last few days.

My current, installed version is 2024.11.02. The version I just received is 2024.11.03. When I received this update, I thought it was the biggie - 2024.19. I was excited! Oh, well. A quick look at the notes for .03 and it looks like they are pretty much the same as .02, with maybe a few little tweaks. I love my R1T, but sometimes it does confound me. I’m in the middle of one of those runs, right now ?

Thank you for experimenting! I have no problem eating crow. In my experience the majority of seat ventilation is the heat extraction type. It makes less sense to circulate cabin air through the seat because when you need it most the cabin air is warmer than the body.

You aren't wrong, many cars draw air through the seat as you say.

It is mostly a cost thing:

seats that actually blow cold air require Ducting from under the dash down under the carpet and duct into the seats themselves.

vs Fans in the seat that just need 12V power which it already has.

I've heard this from the start, even from my friends who work at Rivian.

But the inside of my R1S has gotten to 123F before and nothing has happened. Tesla will trigger at about 105F (I forgot exactly). At that point, I'm worried about OTHER things I may have left in the car (iPad, phone, etc).

Has anyone actually experienced the Rivian cabin overheat protection turn on? If so, at what temp?
Initially thought this was a bug that re-enabled the climate control in camp mode after manually turning it off. It's frustrating because it drains the battery out faster if you aren't plugged in when it happens. Seems less likely to happen when you turn off the displays in camp mode, but it's something that takes a long time on a hot day to test/verify, and I am not sure I actually was able to.

The cabin overheat protection was changed in the middle of last year (presumably to raise the threshold) as part of a collection of changes made to address vampire drain:

From the 2023.22 release notes:
  • Optimized driver and center display overheat protection thresholds to help minimize range loss when vehicles are parked in direct sunlight.
So you're not crazy if you feel like you used to see it before and no longer do.

Kyle getting something early? Noooo...
He currently has a longish-term loaner R1S for testing. It's a Gen1 DM Max. But it's a Rivian-owned vehicle, so it's no surprise it got the update early.
