Peltier seats would definitely cool even better, but they're not particularly efficient. The setup they used should get you plenty cool as long as your AC is running. I'm pretty sure it's not just recirculating random cabin air, but is actually circulating the cooled air coming straight out of the AC.
I could totally be wrong, but from a teardown I saw a while back it looked like the seats draw air up from the underside of themselves. But there was no AC duct work delivering air directly to the seats.

There's AC vents on the floor facing the rear which I'm sure while running assist cooling the seats but that's about it.

I've considered redirecting half of this floor vent back to where the fan draws air to try and improve the effectiveness of this ventilated seat. (Just haven't taken a crack at it yet)

This is the standard design for cooled seats. All of the Ford SUVs (explorer, expedition, etc) do it this way

The move to the Unreal engine is going to be very helpful for both the user experience and making changes to the UI in the future. Glad to see Rivian is willing to make moderately big changes to the platform to make longer term beneficial improvements.

Hoping it accidentally makes the PAAK more sensitive...

To be fair the new Adventure is a downgrade from the current Adventure. Wood trim, “premium” sound, camp speaker, and compressor have all been removed from standard equipment
Adventure is the new Explore. Heck, below Explore even.

Ascent is the new Adventure.

In three years, Ascent will be the new base trim, and “Expedition” will be the new high-end.

Then Escape.

Then Edge.

Wait…

Rivian's in-vehicle UI has always used the Unreal Engine, this is not a new move.

How about cabin overheat protection. We really need it in Middle East
This already exists but, I do not know what the temperature threshold is. It will kick on to preserve the screens/electronics in extreme temps.

I've heard this from the start, even from my friends who work at Rivian.

But the inside of my R1S has gotten to 123F before and nothing has happened. Tesla will trigger at about 105F (I forgot exactly). At that point, I'm worried about OTHER things I may have left in the car (iPad, phone, etc).

Has anyone actually experienced the Rivian cabin overheat protection turn on? If so, at what temp?

You are correct. The intake for the seat fans is a few inches off the floor underneath each seat. The output for the HVAC rear floor vent is only a few inches away from these intakes so kicking on the rear floor vents makes a BIG difference in the air temp coming from the seats.

Aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh that is the solution. That’s a good idea for in-cabin automation: If seat coolers are on, enable floor vents for middle row.

That would be the seat exhaust. Ventilated seats draw air from the seat cushion perforations. All are designed that way to pull heat from body and providing a cooling effect.

There is no industry standard for which direction the air moves through ventilated seats. The ventilated seats in Rivian vehicles push air through the seat perforations to blow against the occupants body.

The simple way to test that explanation is to throw glitter all over the driver seat and turn on the seat ventilation.

But I would have a very difficult time explaining to the service center and my wife why there is glitter all over and in the driver seat.

So I’ll just take your statement as definitive and save myself the anguish. But, if someone is willing to do an experiment in the name of science, please take a video and post it.

Thanks in advance.

Or against test glitter.

This is not how Rivian seats' ventilation works.
