For me, @RivianDD, the 24/7 human phone service at (855) RIVIAN-5 has been FAR superior to my experience with any other vehicle manufacturer.
When we don't understand what's happening, we call (855) RIVIAN-5. Most issues are worked out right away.
Our R1's have always remained operable...
Regardless of whether one shares or doesn't share @badger4149's political beliefs, personal insults should never be used in this forum.
If you've got an argument, make that argument as cogently as you can. But don't insult people who believe and argue differently.
Thanks for considering!
I've driven maybe 500-600K lifetime gasoline-vehicle miles, and I haven't had a vehicle fire since 1979. I question the figure of one fire per 18,000 miles for gasoline vehicles. Can someone confirm this?
Thanks, all!
Lots of legacy CCS-1 vehicles out there, @UnsungZero_OldTimeAdMan, including all 2022-2025 Rivians. That's a market worth serving too.
In the Portland area, the new RAN near Tualatin/Tigard is said to be all J-3400. Last time I was there, the Happy Valley RAN had some of each type. It makes...
@Krs71, consider editing the thread's title to mark it "SOLD." Many people also change the title font to strike out the product name.
Congratulations and best wishes!
We have TeslaTap AC adapters for both our R1s. They have helped us a lot -- especially with hotels, whose chargers are about half J-1772 and about half NACS/J-3400. So the appropriate AC adapter roughly doubles our hotel charging options, and sometimes helps in other locations as well.
Best...
The J-3400 "NACS" will eventually dominate the charging-station scene, but things take time.
Whatever I'm driving, I expect to benefit from AC and DC adapters for at least the next six years.
Best wishes!
In 2008, my ex and I had two at-fault crashes. One was below the state's reporting threshold. State Farm declared our ten-year-old sedan totaled, and paid for the other driver's injuries, on the other one. Then we had a new car stolen from our driveway. All three incidents happened between...
I still prefer the abundance of user-selectable charging options in PlugShare.
Carry both AC and DC adapters suitable for your Rivian's charge port.
I agree @Niftly3d is likely to have an awesome trip. Best wishes!
My favorite "fun car" was a 1978 Fiat 128 stick-shift sedan. We couldn't afford the time or money to maintain it, but we really enjoyed driving that car and remembered it fondly!
Then we got our first all-electric, a 2019 Chevy Bolt. That was just as much fun! Great torque, great control...
Chinese espionage, industrial and military, is a fact of life.
Americans drive their cars -- regardless of where they're made -- onto military bases and into sensitive areas. That's one vulnerability of a free society.
A wise country will respond with clear-eyed analysis and strong...
The trouble with using signs is that they vary in location and significance.
Some signs overhead are temporary advisory speeds. Some signs are on frontage roads, or the main interstate lanes, and can be very misleading if you're not in the part of the right of way to which the signs apply...
I had that on Wednesday, when trying to engage Pet Mode while already connected to an AC charger in the hot sun. Instead of decreasing, the inside temperature climbed to 113. After I removed the R1S from the charger, to put it into the shade instead, the regular AC worked normally. I didn't...
When our interior lights started acting squirrely like that, @rogersmj, the technician at 855-RIVIAN-5 talked us through a vehicle reset. She explained that sometimes, including during some updates, the vehicle software (including interior light controls) loads "out of sequence" and this...
I suspect both Rivian and @thehorsegirl have good-faith arguments here. I don't recall being told, either in person or in the manual, to avoid sunscreen contact with the car's interior surfaces. I also don't know how Rivian could/should have notified everyone about the risk if they knew about...
My understanding is that Waymo generally avoids high-speed roads, so these data may be somewhat biased. However, I suspect the biases aren't huge, so I still consider this impressive.
Best to all!
That was my first thought. The boulder's response to the impact, the Rivian's response to the impact, and the asphalt's non-response to the impact, suggests the boulder weighed maybe between 30 and 100 pounds (my guesstimate).
I'm always happy to be corrected -- @Donald Stanfield, were you...
I requested an R1S appointment for something else, and the AI chatbot in the Rivian App said they also want to deal with a critical 12V issue. Troubleis, this is only coming from the chatbot. The R1S isn't showing any warnings, and the support team at 855-RIVIAN-5 can't find any warnings...
