Reinforced Underbody Shield removed & myth dispelled (not integral to pack structure)

There is a good bit of misinformation/conjecture abut the underbody shield being integral to pack structure and something that is bonded to the packs when they are built. This is false. The shield absolutely can be removed (and retrofitted to a pack without it). The hole locations are identical to the 'on road' pack.

Note: It is obviously very heavy. Don't do this. If you do this, I told you not to. If you refuse to listen to me, do not try to remove this without proper equipment to support the shield. Alternatively, turn your vehicle upside down to remove it. But this is dangerous. Don't do any of this.

I removed it from a salvage vehicle to install on my truck that does not have a shield.

This is awesome info, thanks! It's what I suspected, so it does seem possible that an aftermarket solution could happen, but maybe in smaller segments. Is the shield made from an aluminum extrusion?

Based on GVWR stickers it appears it is about 140lbs + whatever the plastic pieces on the truck without the RUS have.

I know this is a joke from another thread, but I was kind of surprised that Rivian removed info on the RUS from the vehicle about screen. I think that happened the same time they moved the trip meters there.
