  1. PSA: Don't leave seatbelts connected

I miss having a pup. Can I derail this thread for a moment to request a photo of your Aussie? :)
  2. PSA: Don't leave seatbelts connected

I am not trying to litigate this with you. I don’t have an opinion on whether it is or is not a warranty issue. I am very familiar with Teslas. I only came here to give you the procedures to fix it yourself, if you chose to. Genuinely curious if this was a front belt or not. It would be helpful...
  3. PSA: Don't leave seatbelts connected

I am going to caveat this with saying that I know you’re frustrated and with good reason, and I agree that a notification should exist. Just be prepared for the manual to be cited, despite most people never reading it, myself included. Also, give rivian a chance to do the nice thing and see...
  4. PSA: Don't leave seatbelts connected

Replacing the batteries is standard procedure when they are drained low enough, because there is the possibility they are damaged. In my experience they recover fine, but I understand why they prefer to not take a chance. I’m not going to comment on whether it is okay or not okay to consider...
  5. PSA: Don't leave seatbelts connected

Been there. If you can get the front trunk open and hook a battery charger up to the battery or batteries (depending on whether it has one or two) you can recover. The key is to charge them up fully and then pull the HV cut loop (look it up), and then disconnect one or both 12v for 30 seconds...
  6. Reinforced Underbody Shield removed & myth dispelled (not integral to pack structure)

There is a good bit of misinformation/conjecture abut the underbody shield being integral to pack structure and something that is bonded to the packs when they are built. This is false. The shield absolutely can be removed (and retrofitted to a pack without it). The hole locations are identical...
  7. Tutorial / DIY Guide - Installing 12v Outlet in Frunk

Well done! Thanks for taking the time to write up a comprehensive tutorial to help others!
  8. Visited Atlanta Store Opening. Couldn't convince wife on R1S over Model X

Can't argue with subjective evidence that strong.
  9. Visited Atlanta Store Opening. Couldn't convince wife on R1S over Model X

I am sorry for the cross post from another thread, but I gotta.... (also there is an additional note at the bottom now!) original: https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/is-the-model-x-now-a-better-buy-over-r1s-warning-no-elon-musk-discussions.18685/page-9#post-408793 ----- The Model X...
  10. R1S vs Model Y in mud

I haven't seen people reactive overly negatively here unless prodded by flame-y posts like this one. Also, what would you ask Rivian to change to make it better based on this criticism? Force everyone to buy 20" AT Mud+Snow rated tires? I've openly criticized actual flaws in my vehicle and...
  11. R1S vs Model Y in mud

He wrote four sentences, so removing 2 is 50% of the sentences. But also he came in reallllll hot with "Model Y hands down much better". I'm not sure what kind of reaction he was aiming for, but I think he got the one I would expect to see with such a broad, anecdotal, emotionally fueled...
  12. R1S vs Model Y in mud

Plz follow me into this mud in your Model Y, for science.
  13. Is the Model X now a better buy over R1S? (WARNING: NO ELON MUSK DISCUSSIONS)

<cracks knuckles> The Model X arrived with two leaks, one that was obvious (bird wing door, drivers side) and one that wasn't (rear quarter window wasn't sealed). The leak in the door was annoying and took two tries to fix. The leak in the rear quarter window wasn't found until it rained enough...
  14. Is the Model X now a better buy over R1S? (WARNING: NO ELON MUSK DISCUSSIONS)

My 2020 Model X is the only EV I have ever regretted buying. Was happy I got a chance to sell it in 2021.
  15. MAX PACK Dual Motor Performance is delivering!

heh just came here to mention it...
  16. Confirmed: Newer production R1 only have a single 12v battery, but...

You don't have to wait. You just pull the ground and put it right back. Don't do it before your voltage is back up to a reasonable level is all.
  17. Confirmed: Newer production R1 only have a single 12v battery, but...

/shrug I'll leave the speculation on Rivian's motivation to other folks. Just sharing what I know... The ECUs that stay powered down are likely doing so on purpose. If you allow them to continuously power cycle as the voltage rises, you're going to just keep seeing them fight for power and...
  18. Confirmed: Newer production R1 only have a single 12v battery, but...

When the voltage dips, some ECUs seem to stay down indefinitely unless you hard reboot by removing 12v power completely. The best way to do this is to open up the frunk, remove the cowl, and remove the negative terminal connector on the battery side. I've done this multiple times when tinkering...
