Costco doesn't have a servicing guide yet for rotating / balancing Rivian tires & wheels

Took my 2022 R1T into Costco Tire Center to have them rotate/balance the tires (~8,000 miles on them, figured it was about time). Took the truck in, but then couldn't find a "repair guide in the system" to do a rotation/balance. I mean... I can do it in my driveway using the owner's manual and a jack, but okay. It says in the manual how to remove the panels to access frame rails in order to jack it up, but oh well. I suppose they consider it a liability if they can't "follow a repair guide" for these vehicles, but that's a little absurd. Suggestions? Discount Tire?

AFAIK, Discount Tire is currently the only big retailer that has been trained for Rivians. They will install tires, balance them. But no alignment, yet.

Not unreasonable of Costco. Rivian need to expand who can do this since discount tire does not cover the whole country.

It's better for them to say they don't know how to do it than to try and mess it up. Discount Tire can do it no problem if you have one near you.

Sounds like most stores have the pucks now but if you want to avoid a possible wasted trip I would probably call your local store and confirm just to be sure. Other than seeing some pics where they forgot to reattach the covers properly it seems like most people have been pretty happy with Discount for this.

Discount/Americas Tire should have them, but call in advance to confirm

Imo get the pucks first. It was my first purchase as soon as I had confirmed delivery of the truck. Don't want to risk breaking or forgetting the panels.

I went to my local tire shop, and they jacked it up, put on new tires, balanced and it drives perfectly. The only thing I did was give them the jackpucks and point out where the jack points were. No service guide is needed...

Odd that Costco declined, others have had service there. I bought my tires there but since I was using RAM wheels and had brought my own TMPS they wouldn't install them due to the TPMS. Love Costco but their tire centers are getting harder to work with sometimes. At least I always go home with snacks.

I did the same - but just a 4-tire rotation. I brought my own pucks and they commented that the magnetic pucks really made it a lot easier for them. The only other thing I did was to look up the torque settings in the owner's manual on my phone so that they didn't have to. They didn't let me in the bay while they were working, but encouraged me to stand right outside the door to answer any questions.

I thought they only worked on tires they've sold only.

They will do it on any vehicle. It is free if you bought the tires there.
