  1. Should Rivian Consider a 3-Row Version of the R2?

This is one of those things that initially sounds illogical because the 3 row R2 would take sales away from R1S - and it will. The Model YL OP mentions started out as China only where the smaller vehicle makes more sense and given their family profile, 6 seater makes sense too. Don't forget...
  2. Insurance Rates for R2

You should do whatever is that you feel comfortable with. I do, however, recommend a moment of reflection. We have 2 kids in their mid 20s. Both work in high cost of living cities (San Francisco and the Silicon Valley). Can really appreciate what you are saying. Kid in SF gave up his car...
  3. Impact of not ordering R2 when your time comes

This is Rivian, not Ferrari where an allocation for new models heavily depends on other vehicle purchases. Rivian will sell you R3X if you want one.
  4. R2 lift kit (aftermarket) by EVSportline

The conventional suspension on R2 is really going spur lots of different mod options. This is just the beginning. SEMA probably will have many vendors with various mods for R2.
  5. Anyone have R2 highway driving range to share? (I'm sure the color you picked looks great)

I am not in the market for any SUV. Already have R1S and don't need another. I am a Rivian shareholder and have a great interest in Rivian doing well. My original comment was aimed at the overall product competitiveness against other cross shopped vehicles. If the product falls short of...
  6. Anyone have R2 highway driving range to share? (I'm sure the color you picked looks great)

I am formally educated both BS and MS as aeronautical engineer and have worked over 30 yrs in the aerospace industry. Quite aware. While form factor is a major contributor, there are so much more. Not interested in comparing to Tesla. Rivian needs to make the R2 competitive to all others...
  7. Anyone have R2 highway driving range to share? (I'm sure the color you picked looks great)

Correct. The law of physics is universal. The question is why hasn't Rivian figured out how to make it work better when others have....
  8. Anyone have R2 highway driving range to share? (I'm sure the color you picked looks great)

If this is the typical result, its very poor for a 2027 EV, regardless of tire/wheel setup.
  9. Market Reality Check: When do Gen 2 Quads drop to double digits?

Don't know about an unicorn, but you are one of very few that Venn diagram overlaps....
  10. CNBC: A ‘perfect storm’ points to a much smaller U.S. auto market by 2040

Very typical CNBC reporting. Too much assertions, unsubstantiated interpretations on what the data says and telling the story to match their own predetermined conclusions. 1) Legal immigration has not chanced and illegal immigrants typically do not buy new vehicles immediately. 2) Decline of...
  11. Tesla Supercharger network subscription and Rivian Navigation

You still need to use the Tesla app to get the membership pricing. In fact, I have had to turn off RAN station option on the map and have only Tesla SC so that it actually shows up in completeness. If there are both Tesla and RAN, the Rivian map will always select RAN over SC in routing .
  12. As you might have guessed.... higher gas prices has increased interest in EVs [ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS]

Other than nostalgia, manual transmission - while it's more engaging (actually more work) as a driver - is out dated and overrated. I owned nothing but MT until the family size became such that I needed a 4 door vehicle. There is nothing better than EV for daily driver. The commute, errands...
  13. R2 XPEL PPF Option Official Launch - Now Available in Configurator

I own a vehicle with and without PPF. One with (full front, side rockers and behind the rear wheel - track pack) has no pitting, chipping or scratches on the paint. One without has small pittings and no chipping or scratches. I hesitated installing PPF for the fear of removal of PPF. Horror...
  14. Cancelling my Pre-order, thoughts inside from test drive

First, most people here on the forum knows I am not a Rivian rah rah or fan boy. Don‘t take this the wrong way. Your post really speaks to how uneducated you are about Rivian. There is nothing you’d listed other than lack of Accessories, which is expected for any new model vehicle, are new...
  15. Got my R2 delivery date

Congrats and enjoy the ride s00n. Question? Roughly what is your VIN range. Is it in 2,000s yet? I've seen several R2's on the road with paper plates already so Rivian must be pumping them out.
  16. LUCID cutting 18 percent of staff

Here's the thing. While we rely on the digital technologies, we still reside in an analogue existence. Everything we see, hear, feel as a living being is analogue. Appreciate the frustration, if the vehicle does not open/unlock, start the vehicle. We've gotten, those of us on EV only, so...
  17. Rear Brake rotors - casualty of high regen.

This completely does not make any sense, especially with the regen braking assist off. Regen braking does not use friction brakes. the motor becomes the generator and converts the kinetic energy back to the cells. In other words, electric motor is used to slow the vehicle and not...
  18. LUCID cutting 18 percent of staff

Don't take this the wrong way. I just found this post to be how people see autos today versus how it used to be and just SMH. It used to be that "best driving vehicle I've ever driven" would be the top priority and made the car highly sought after. Today, it appears not very high on a vehicle...
  19. LUCID cutting 18 percent of staff

Lucid is essentially a Saudi Arabian company. They own about 60% of the company and has a production site in Saudi. Most likely the company is shifting more work to there. https://www.reuters.com/business/world-at-work/ev-maker-lucid-lay-off-about-18-us-workforce-2026-06-22/ Cuts to affect...
  20. Prime Day Car Upgrade Checklist: What Are You Adding to Your Setup?

If a product sells for $X normally, and on the Prime Days, it sells for less than $X, I don't see how it is a scam. Perhaps these comments from reddit is just hunting for deals and not necessarily a particular item one is interested in? Over the years, I have found things I wanted and if it's...
