"After extensive studies and analysis, we have come to a mutual decision to discontinue the program. Each company remains committed to affordability in the EV market," Honda and GM said in a joint statement.

"After studying this for a year, we decided that this would be difficult as a business, so at the moment we are ending development of an affordable EV," said Honda CEO Toshihiro Mibe

Honda wants you to buy this thing instead. Count and Countess could get matching folding scooter death traps.

I saw my first ZDX a couple days ago. Glad to see they aren't cancelling that and the prologue.

I haven't seen one yet, but my local Acura dealer is best in the business, so having that level of support is tempting down road.

Honda should cancel all Ultium projects as they will be bad for the brand longterm. They will orphan the owners when they roll out their own platform in the next 4 years.

No they shouldn't and there is no reason for Honda/Acura dealers not to service ultium based Honda/Acura vehicles.

Why reject the revenue? GM will continue to make the parts.

These are all just the first of many dominoes that will be falling while the automakers try to control future cost because of the UAW strike. It will be painful and UAW will end up with a lot less members before it is all over.

Points to you for being the first person to say what this is REALLY about.

Looks like GM has a major cell supply issue and Honda got out/got kicked out.

Or they could have just invested some of the $20 billion in profit from the past few years (or their million $ executive salaries) in EVs.
Clueless management is coming home to roost. Legacy auto is toast.

You're both right. It is both corporate mismanagement AND UAW corruption. Both sides have been out to get theirs at the expense of the company's health. We can debate which one is the chicken and which is the egg all day but the fact of the matter is both parties have ruined what were once foundational American companies.

I second or fourth that. It is very hard for legacy companies to pivot quickly or be innovative. The ship is too large or the DNA is not there. Darwinism at it's best.
