  1. R1S Owner Finally! Some Questions for Fellow Owners.

If you want to take covers off, do so immediately. They tend to scratch the wheels.
  2. Unreasonable extra costs

While I don't trust insurance companies to be truthful, my premium is almost the same for 2010 Acura, 2017 Mazda and R1. Some numbers are higher for Mazda. Not sure who is buying those Mazda CX-9s🤦
  3. Brand new R1S is DEAD

Ok, Rivian decoded to save $100 on Lead acid battery 🫡. And I guess we both agree that Lead acid is less susceptible to fires with full scale BMS (cooling and heating)
  4. Brand new R1S is DEAD

Car says so in OPs first post. Also, how does increased capacity prevent dead 12v battery caused by bad BMS? It will still be dead, just takes longer
  5. Brand new R1S is DEAD

It's a moot point. With HV battery dead, any 12v battery will die. And what is the solution for when it's below freezing? Keep it warm all the time or wait 20 mins to start your car? Severe range loss in Teslas at very cold temperatures is well documented.
  6. Brand new R1S is DEAD

No thanks. Lithium batteries without temperature management are a fire hazard and suck at low temperatures. I considered one for my motorcycle and decided against it. Also, this looks like a 400v battery issue. 12v dying is inevitable, Lithium or Lead Acid. Fortnine did a video on it
  7. Burnt 240V outlet

I got Rivian EVSE installed with #4 wires. They are rated for 85A. It's a small bump in price for additional protection and some future proofing.
  8. Weird behavior of accelerator/brake pedals: is it a fw bug (current fw 2024.03.02)?

When battery Regen is limited , during brake hold and when using Driver+ , brakes are used. This also moves the pedal slightly. To prevent brake application during limited Regen, you can change the settings and see if it helps. If this fixes the clicking, the source of clicking is the braking...
  9. In accident proximity sensor broke off , now backup and front cameras not working

Your best bet might be to pull out the old sensor and try to find it online. Parts usually have the number stamped on them. Some have a sticker, but I would imagine that isn't there or washed out on an outdoor component. Also check if there is a short and tape up the wires. You may have blown a...

  11. Small Dent Near Logo at Delivery - How to Handle Possible Big Repair?

Dent would bother me, but if the whole side was replaced, I would not touch that vehicle. Fwiw, I have a defect on tunnel door and I didn't get it fixed. Stopped caring after some time.
  12. My R1T is going on a 2000 miles trip and need advise on charging

Stay at a hotel with a J1772 in Vancouver and you should be good between BC and Washington. I did the same. Plenty in Washington along the interstates and the Olympic national park. Plan on such a way that you won't be stranded by the non-availability of a single station.
  13. Rivian cuts another 1% of workforce in new layoff (April 17, 2024)

My guide did not do anything for me - not that I needed more. I got the email invite, I completed them and went to pick up the car. There were on or two 5-10 minute phone calls regarding the payment and that was it.
  14. $1700 Service Center ONLY Windshield Replacement is UNSUSTAINABLE !

2014 Subaru Outback windshield from Safelite was $1200 to $1500. Someone I know got it done last year. My TL's aftermarket Pilkington windshield was $300 in 2014. OE Part cost was over $700 at the dealer. Installed it would have been $1000 or more. What we need are aftermarket options.

Mall gives the free power, not Tesla.
  16. Honest kids…..

I saw one in matte black Infront of a hotel. Honestly thought it was a dumpster for a second. And I know how it looks like.
  17. Porche can sell you a car with 0-60 in 3.1 and a range of 233 miles for only $163,400K

I doubt you will need sport mode, especially if they are not using launch control. Google says: Bugatti Chiron can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour (mph) in 2.3 seconds, without launch control, it can go from 0 to 60 mph in 3.84 seconds.
  18. Community NVH Thread - Share your fixes for noises, rattles, clunks, squeaks

Rear seat belt pre-tensioner would rattle loudly in certain conditions. SC found it easily and replaced it. They said that there is an explosive charge and they wouldn't try to fix it. So replacement it is.
