22" Michelin Tires @ Costco for under $2K installed (compatible with Rivian 22" factory wheels)

I did the 22 in pirelli all season 3s for my second set, my original 22s lasted exactly 15k miles. I know the all season 3s aren't the same load rating but I am only the one and the only thing ever in mine other than a bicycle, I don't tow and have never used the bed so I don't care, I got them for $900 and installed myself. My winter blizzak 22s are the same load rating. I would have went with the Michelin defenders but they didn't have stock when I needed the new set.

I am curious how to install yourself? Is it something anyone with determination can do or need some specialized expensive tools? I’d do it myself if I could!

Yes the load rating on regular tires are 119 and the SNOW tires match too but he didn't see the load rating on those.

$2K all inclusive - Costco service includes, removing old one installing new + tire rotation on regular intervals.

I have 8K miles and feel that OEM tires are already showing quite a bit of wear - normal hwy driving.

The XL rated MS/2 will come out in April. I think it’s 38 lbs, so significantly lighter and will have a 70k warranty for $315 each. Per my dealer

I was at Costco over the weekend and inquired if they carry anything that fits our Rivian 22 in wheels. Surprisingly he said they can special order a Michelin 22 in Tires that are rated for 50K miles. The cost for all 4 came to under $2K installed. He showed me Winter tires set that fits these wheels as well that was about ~$250/tire

Anyone replaced stock Pirelli's with other brands that have better tread life?

It's been 20+ years, but at least at that time Costco refused to install non-OEM tires on my Ford Excursion. I'm assuming that policy has changed. Hopefully, since my experience w/ Michelin tires has been the *most* longevity over many vehicles over the last 30+ years and would definitely be interested replacing my R1S 22" Pirellis, since my experience w/ Pirellis has been the *least* longevity over many vehicles over the last 20+ years.

I saw where someone put on a set of Continental Terrain Contact A/T tires for a more aggressive look and they reported no major impacts to range. I looked those up and they look like the specs meet the OEM tires, except for speed rating (T vs H).

Obviously no one is taking their R1 out on the town at 130MPH, but I’m sure there are some down falls going with a tire with a lower speed rating. I’m assuming they may wear faster or not be covered by the tire warranty. Worst case in a major accident I’m assuming an insurance company could use it as a contributing factor to reject coverage.

Probably wear slower and last longer with a lower speed rating. I always think of it as "higher speed rating" = replacing them more often. High performance tires don't last long (even if you are just driving around town).

I'd really double check those specs on the tires...

Costco won’t install mis-spec’d load rated tires for safety reasons and their buying process asks consumers to verify that they’ve read the tire details and the inside door decals.

Incorrect. My Michelins were installed and routinely rotated by Costco on my Tesla.

Yes Costco's do install tires for Tesla's and any other EV as well as long as they have correctly rated tire.
I go to one in Lake Zurich.

The guy there mentioned lot of Tesla owners come in asking for 'special' EV only tires. He kept on complaining about that and said as long as we have load rating and sizes they all are same and it takes too much time to explain to people

Have the General Grabber HTS 60 on my F150 Lightning. Same size as my R1S 22's. I have seen very little wear with 10k on these with a mix of highway and city driving. at $232 a tire, much better than the $500 for the Pirelli. The Grabber's run similar from a road noise perspective. Honestly, I do not need the speed rating as I have a light foot. I do not launch or drive much above 75 on a regular basis. Definitely have not hit above 100 in either vehicle...

Now a days Costco's do install tires you buy from elsewhere like Tirerack etc. They charge ~20 per tire I believe. It used to be $15/tire

Confirming this was for a Michelin AS tire that fits our 22's?
I've been wanting an AS for my 22's so I could put snow tires on a set of 20's but have been striking out on the AS option. TIA
