While I personally agree, the average consumer is unfortunately absolutely unaware so the comparison does remain.
My cousin has had Subaru's for decades. Now interested in electric and I told her about the R2, but it came down to the Subaru brand being known to her and Rivian is not.
Around here, "off road" is more about handling winter conditions, backroads riddled with potholes, washed out lanes, reaching crop fields without direct access, etc. Very few people actually "off road" but the AWD and extra clearance are very valuable.
Both my R1S (very rare) and Hyundai Ioniq 9 (50%+) will try to close the door in the middle of charging so I'll have to move the door with a bit of force in order to unplug. This always feels bad to do, especially on the flimsy Ioniq door.
Then there are the times they don't want to close or...
Love the R2 and not saying there is no value in what you posted, however, there are many more potential dealbreaker features that the R1 offers that the R2 does not.
So for some, the R2 may not be an option regardless of its price.
So I'll play that game on the other side for a moment
Why...
Glad to hear somebody in Ohio has gotten their order placed. Gives me some hope after just getting this from the service center. Hour 1 reservation here.
"As for the R2 we don't know when we will get one in. Currently in the state of Ohio we are not able to perform test drives or even show the...
Comment from my service rep regarding the R2 and demo drive in Ohio.
I guess that explains why I don't see a single center in Ohio offering test drives and I don't believe they ever have for the R1S/R1T either.
Day 1, first hour reservation. It will be interesting to see how long this gets...
Thank you for the reminder!
Have ours scheduled for July 6th and getting a comprehensive inspection, however we are at 59,600 miles so we will need to use sparingly until then. Checking to see if they can bump it forward at all.
40% hit is crazy high IMO.
Maybe if you are parking outside in extreme cold and only driving a few miles each time you jump in.
120mi a day is plenty fine and realistically if parked in a garage and charging every night then the battery will be a bit warmer and your first leg of the commute...
Family of 7 here, and we use the 3rd row daily—mostly with our 6- and 9-year-olds. I can understand the complaint if adults are constantly using the 3rd row, but our kids have never had issues getting back there or with the space. Even our older kids (11 and 13) can easily slide the 2nd row...
Sounds like many of you most vocal on here are leaning toward super vibrant colors, which I totally respect.
Personally, I’ve always felt that vibrant colors look better balanced on the R1T than the R1S. R1T in Rivian Blue, chef’s kiss. R1S in Rivian Blue? Meh.
That’s why I prefer the look of...
I have practically the identical setup and have been running it for about 3 years. You'll love it!
Might I suggest looking into this Cargo Floor Riser from @RWerksman and @Kelvn to help with some of the heat if you still want to be able to use the cover and use it for extended periods of time...
My insurance wasn't anymore than my Navigator, in fact it was the same and my Navigator was 3 years older 🤷♂️
Worth adding though for those that do experience it and yes, yearly registration fees is stupid high for some people. +$200 for me
Since the last two updates mine (LE R1S) has been significantly worse.
Biggest annoyance is that it doesn't get my "home" correct, it sets it to my neighbors address about 300 yards away so it is always locked in our own garage. Kids can't run out to the car to get something without me unlocking...
I'm going to take that as a serious question, although it seems silly/obvious to me.
Yes, to your second question. We've got 7 in our family, so third row is for passengers.
We also have a minivan but much prefer the comfort (aside from getting in and out) that the R1S provides for everyone...
