That is about 18 months too late for them to remain relevant. No one who owns any of the NACS or NACS adapter vehicles (Ford, GM, Rivian, Polestar, Volvo, etc.) will still be using EA by 2025. The day your adapter arrives the EA membership will be cancelled. After a year of access to the Supercharger network, EA will be the forgotten network that never worked well and could not get its act together.
Screw that.

I'm not paying any money to Tesla.

EA does have problems, but only once in five years of EV ownership have I truly been unable to charge at an EA station. Individual stalls being down is annoying, but it's not like EA is an absolute garbage fire that leaves people stranded constantly. And it's still the biggest network of CCS stations. They aren't going away the instant vehicles start shipping with NACS.

Hell, EVgo is still around, and they had far worse problems than EA right when EA was expanding and before EA was having problems.

I'm hoping that I'm not jinxing myself here, but...

I've had good experiences on the handful of EA chargers that I have used here in upstate NY. Granted, the 5 or 6 different sites I've used is not a large sample, and I suspect that they were newer sites. They are also all part of the EVolveNY program, which has standardized pricing at 35 cents/kwh, so I wonder if that makes any difference with availability SLA's, etc. FWIW, I've also used several Shell Recharge sites on the EVolveNY program and they have been reliable also.

As far as I'm concerned, more access to more chargers is a good thing.

Yea I'm not going to stop using EA even with supercharger access.

For a 65% charge (15-80%, typical road trip conditions) EA will cost $32 and Tesla will cost $43. Not a huge difference, but it's still 25% more. How many of you were willing to spend 25% more on gas to get a different brand?

You do realize that Supercharger rates varies by the time of the day, right?

Also, the EA rate is for members? If so, don't forget to include the membership recurring cost (amortized over however much you use EA).

Ha ha! You're cracking me up.

A person of true principals. Rather inconvenience yourself than spend fraction of cent per KW to Tesla.

Both Ford and GM have stated that their customers will pay through their own app and not Tesla's. The bulk uses from all of F or GM will be paid between them and Tesla. I assume the arrangement will be consistent with Rivian and all other makes. No one wants to hand over their customer info to a competitor.

So, technically you are paying something to Tesla. Hope its worth the inconveniences...

Superchargers never varied in SC / GA for me when I had my Tesla. Yea EA rate is for members, even adding $4 to that total keeps Tesla significantly higher. I'm using $0.36 for EA and $0.49 for Tesla.

I'll stick with EA and RAN unless I need a supercharger to get to an out of the way place. Hopefully the RAN starts to expand quicker.

While I agree with the sentiment, EA won't be forgotten. Unlike EVGo, Chargepoint, etc. EA exists because they have to exist per an agreement between VW and the US Gov to pay for the diesel cheat scandal. So even if no one goes there, pretty sure they need to remain.

Texas bob, i have 3 EA stations within 50 miles of me and 0 Tesla's within 60 miles. EA is $0.36 cents and Teslas are $0.50. Would you recommend i drive farther and spend more?
You don’t have home charging availability? With any EV I can’t see charging within 150-200 miles of residence if you have the ability to charge at home.

Unless of course you live in Southern California and need to charge during the week between 4pm and 9pm. ??

That would be one option of why you would level 3 charge away from home. The other reason would be a 300-400 mile road trip on the way back. Once again, 32,000 miles in 15 months I've been around the world twice and talked to everybody once and needed to charge "close" to home.

Sound economic sense…. But only if the EA charger is working!

Right now EA is just a monetary distribution system for a large government fine levied for VW wrongdoing. Yet to be seen if they intend to be a competent network operator, or will eventually sell the assets to someone who is.
I have only had 1 issue. Must be very region centric on all these bad stations. The Tesla network will be overwhelmed if the others don't keep expanding as well. Let alone the crazy rates that will be charged.

THe Supercharger network is going to be overwhelmed in 18 months, we still need others. EA needs to get their shit together.
