The quality is indeed excellent. Although it appears that Rivian might have made some subtle changes in the underbody hole locations (the two M10 / 15mm head bolts provided by DCE went unused in my case), the end result was exactly what I was hoping for. Grip is excellent and the wife loves them. She even hopped in with the truck still at full height without even realizing it. ?

Looks great! Can we get pics with the front and rear doors opened? Maybe a foot on the board for scale?

@DCE I know you’re all busy at the KotH event but I would strongly encourage you to reevaluate your installation process. Aside from the hardware (bolts) issues discussed yesterday, I have reason to suspect that your torque settings are incorrect.

I’m at a shop right now applying final torque to the TP55 and 17mm hex bolts and the quoted torque settings are way too high (according to my mechanic). He’s already split off one of the 17mm OEM bolts at 70 lb-ft (you specified 80 lb-ft) and said the TP55’s were over-torquing at 130 lb-ft.

I love your sliders but I’m pretty frustrated with the discrepancy between your instructions and our actual experience with these fasteners. Hopefully you can take a closer look at the specs and clarify for your customers.

^ @obfuscurity, do you know if the other bolts seated to hand tightening prior to the final torque setting? 70 ft. lbs is relatively mild or as you suggest the bolts aren't meant for that threshold.

Not sure what you mean, can you elaborate?

P.S. I want to be clear here, I’m not mad at DCE… I just want to make sure that any potential customers have the best possible instructions and/or determine if Rivian has changed any parts which may have altered the specs.

Have you contacted DCE directly?

That's my suspicion as well, though they clearly marked it as lb-ft in the installation video.

Yes, definitely. Unfortunately, the timing is a bit rough since everyone who worked on this product is apparently out for KotH, so I just wanted to raise the visibility in case anyone else finds themselves in the same situation.

If the bolts weren't coming out easily, it's entirely possible you could have weakened them first when taking them out. Or they were already weakened from being over-torqued at the factory.

Anything’s possible, but I didn’t have any issues removing the 17mm bolts so I feel confident in saying that nothing I did led to them being compromised before torquing down.
