Given these posts, I'm going to farm this out to a pro. I'm still looking for a good running board. All the best.

Reviving an old thread… got to the final bolt on my board install and it was stripped before hand when it was put in I’m guessing by factory or service center prior to delivery… I tried taping my Torx bit and overlaying with aluminum foil thought I had a good bite, but it is completely gone… Hercules installed these dam things well over 120ft.lbs freaking ridiculous… The other three mounts are holding it up fine but I fear I’m bound for a shop on this one… It’s completely seated still with the Godly strength of Thor’s ass cheeks squeezing together and I don’t think any normal alternative extraction method is going to budge this one!

You could try a heavy duty EZ out, might be cheaper than having someone do it.

Edit: May want to source a replacement bolt first.

You need a TP55 bit, it's a special torx plus bit. A regular torx will strip the heads.

I had one that cracked and was able to remove it with a vice grip.. not fun but it worked with the right lever arm. Good luck.

Try a TP55 + jack to push the breaker bar into the head. Unless the pattern is completely gone, this may give you enough connection to break it loose. That's what I had to do.

Yea the threads are completely gone I only got two shots at it but with it being over torqued over 120lbs it will not break loose Vice grips won’t hold to that force on the bolt as it’s wedged against the metal… ?

I have the correct bit my issue was the bolt was stripped from factory or service prior to delivery there is nothing left inside the bolt head…

Reviving an old thread...

Whoever installed the boards on my R1T did NOT follow any torque specs. Snapped the first one with my breaker bar.

Anyone know what this threads into and how much of a weakness it creates to run without one?

Really want these boards off but the second one is not loosening either (turns like the first one did, but after several rotations is not any looser or less torque).
