Rigged my ChargePoint up to install on my slatwall without having to drill through it. I also wanted something that wasn't permanently hardwired because I have commitment issues. Funny thing is, I bought it and got it installed in January of '21 because we were supposed to get our R1S that year (HA!). Fortunately, that also meant I got the tax rebate which expired 1 January of this year.

However, ChargePoint kept sending me emails saying, "you haven't charged anything yet, do you need tech support?" I started feeling insulted, so I somehow maneuvered myself into getting a Hyundai Ioniq 5 and a stern admonition from the wife: "how did we order an EV for me, install a charger for it, and then you get an EV before I get mine?!" I tried to tell her she could have the Ioniq 5 now and the R1S will be mine when it gets here... that did not work.

You already cut the drywall, so why not run the conduit to the rear so it's a "stealth" install?

It won't connect to wifi so it has the red light when trying to initialize. But it charges just fine and at full power

I have a two car garage... with a ridiculous amount of toys / stuff for my kids. So I have to park outside. Haven't finished the little path my wife requested yet.

Currently using two Tesla Gen 3 wall connectors on a 50a circuit with the Lectron adapter. Not my final solution but it works fine.

Got a 50A GFCI breaker setup with 40A Grizzl-E EVSE outdoors. I wanted some flexibility to plug indoors later, so I split to another indoor 14-50P receptacle. Figured showing all the guts might help someone out there.

Main breaker panel (100A total). This is not all my handy work... I only added circuit 19 myself... Thinking about adding an Emporia Vue to monitor all of my usage...

Large junction box above to accommodate the huge connectors. Had to use the underground type cable because that's all they had at Home Depot at the time.

Mounted outdoors with the Grizzl-E keyed lock. Should probably also add a small padlock to the outdoor receptacle...

Nice! Do you feel like wifi is a big miss on the Grizzl-e, or does the Rivian app offer enough functionality for it to be irrelevant?

I have the same EVSE. If I could go back in time, I would get the WIFI version. The Rivian android app is so freakin basic... wish you could change charging options from the app. There is something nice about a simple EVSE, but the vehicle app has to be robust. Also, my TOU plan has different pricing on the weekends. Rivian doesn't accommodate 2 different schedules.

My local COOP has big rebates when using their approved charger and installing a separate meter and remote control off peek relay. They paid for 1/2 the installation cost and charging cost is 2 cents less per KW

Damn, the EV TOU plan here in Northern California is $0.24 per KW after midnight... I pay $0.17/KW to charge at work... That said, it is still cheaper than $6/gal gas...

I got lucky with my panel being on the other side of the wall and 1.5 foot from the charge port on the Rivian.

Inside the charger, the connection coming from the wall into the charger you have the black wire on the left, and red on the right side, should be the opposite

I have a charger installed, but still waiting on the R1S. Should I be able to connect through my phone app to add the charger? Can't seem to figure that out.
