I was thinking of doing something similar to keep the cord from being a trip hazard. What is the reel you're using to keep the plug suspended? Is it self retracting?

You said "if for no other reason". If there is no other reason (IE, no "smart features"), then no firmware updates will be required, and no Wifi. My Grizzl-E has worked perfectly since day one, without OTAs, just like my dining room table :p
Exactly. There is nothing in my Clipper Creek that needs updating. It doesn't connect to the outside world and all it does is the standard EVSE handshake to start/end charging and otherwise just gets out of the way and delivers power to the vehicle. No muss no fuss.

This is a noob question for sure, but is there an issue with having the box inside the garage but running the cable under the door to charge outside? I'm concerned about the weight of my garage door damaging the charging cable over time as it will come down on top of it as the door closes... Any thoughts?
This is the exact setup I have. I was able to adjust the garage door so it seals when it closes but doesn't put a lot of pressure on the cable. Haven't had any issues yet.

My local COOP has big rebates when using their approved charger and installing a separate meter and remote control off peek relay. They paid for 1/2 the installation cost and charging cost is 2 cents less per KW

Nicely done.
Might want to think about a way to relief the tension of the bend right at the charge port?

Received the wall charger last Tuesday, installed it Wednesday, and now trying to sleep each night (unsuccessfully) as I wait for my R1S to pass pre-delivery inspections.
14’ run for my main panel to the garage. 60amp circuit.

My issue is that for now, the truck will be parked outside and will need to be charged. In the future, I plan to reclaim the garage as a place to park an expensive asset instead of store garbage... :)
I do it all the time and I use a socket from a wrench set that is slightly bigger than my charging cable and set it next to the cable. it protects the cable from the door weight

So there is the under door gadget linked in this thread, but I also saw a lot of people on the net use a rv pass through hatch on their wall that lets them pass the charger cable through when they need to. Nice clean install too.
