@HA-Opec @s12dxer what's your miles/kWh like when towing those wake boats? My trailer has been sitting and needs a little TLC before I can load my Nautique 210 on in and take it somewhere.

Flat highway, I was getting ~1100 watts/mile @ 65

I hate the way Rivian reports Mileage. I like the tesla way..

If my R1T ever gets here, will be towing this girl around. Round trip to the marina is about 90 miles. Hope to make it on a single charge.

Anywhere between .7 to 1.2 miles / kwh.

the boat + trailer + gear is about 5500lbs

2014 Moomba Outback V. 120 mile round trip to the lake all highway driving with about 26 miles of tow range left to spare. Tows nice and smooth. I like checking on the rear camera from time to time. Hope they update the software to allow the bed camera. Oh and driver+ while towing would be nice. Maybe someday.

Would this have been better with cross bars on the roof?
I have a long-ish 2.5 person ocean kayak and was thinking in the bed with a hitch extension support would be best; just like this. Seems like it would be easier to load/unload and better aero. What advantages would up on the roof have other than minimizing length/overhang?

I’d think you could do 90mi RT with that, no problem. Unless it’s uphill both directions. ;)

it’ll just come down to your speed on how tight that will be. That’s very similar to my setup, so it should work. I was getting about .87 miles per kWh at 70 mph, and you’d get 107 miles out of 124 usable kWh, so you’d make it but a head wind and rain would make it very very tight.

You can convert those surge brakes to electric over hydraulic, highly recommended especially for larger craft. Bonus that you have such a nice Load Rite which is also worthy of the EOH. Is it currently discs?
I actually have a titan brakerite electric over hydraulic system that I had on my last boat trailer, but I stuck a surge actuator back on it and kept it. I do have disc Brakes now.

What kind of mileage are you getting with towing a jet ski like that? I've been considering getting one but am not positive on how it will effect my range.

I averaged just over 1 mile/kwh towing from Warrenton to Portland using HWY 30. It tows great, the added weight of the truck keeps it from being pushed around and the instant torque makes going up hills so effortless.
