The underbody armor looked like it was all carbon fiber to me, which is how it was described in the past—as a sandwich of carbon fiber and other materials.I sure don't see any under body armor - Am I missing something?
Yes, it was confirmed to me at that event that you can't visibly tell the difference by looking underneath an R1 with Off-Road extra protection vs. Non-Off-Road, simply by looking underneath. I think we were under the impression there was a visible skid plate or rock rails or something which isn't the case. There is an extra layer of non-visible protection hidden underneath the visible panels that also wraps up the sides with the Off-Road option.A recent quote from Brian Gase at the Denver open house that the armor isn't visible for the Off-Road package.
Think of all the money we’ll potentially save on out-of-warranty engine and transmission repairs, though! It’s a great video. He knows his suspension systems and is well qualified to talk on the subject. I have viewed his Raptor video as well.
The only concern I have is if mechanical, hydraulic or electronic suspension issues occur after the warranty expires. It’s going to be a very pricey repair down the road.
Apologies if I’ve already asked you Rob, are you trading in your LR3 when you get your Riv?Think of all the money we’ll potentially save on out-of-warranty engine and transmission repairs, though!![]()
