How long do you plan to keep your current Rivian?

I absolutely love my Gen 1 R1T. We have 68k miles on it. We're also planning on getting an R2 - it is more suited to our use case. Urban driving mostly.

I'd love to keep the truck too, but have concerns mostly around the air suspension.Does anyone share those concerns or any others that would affect longevity?

We have a Gen 1 R1S and love it as well. I would love to hold on to it for a while but I’m also concerned about longevity costs and not sure we’ll need the space in a year or so. The R2 may be an option.

I plan on keeping mine 10-15 years. I’m also planning on paying about 5-6k for a lengthy extended warranty.

With this thing as my daily, I can justify a highly depreciated fun sports car in a few more years.

I plan on at least 10 years depending on the reliability of my R1T. Maybe trade it in for an R3 and another tow vehicle for my yet to be purchased boat.

Meaning as long as its reasonably friendly to me then I'm keeping it.

I should add that we don't need two vehicles. That probably answers my question. We're definitely getting an R2...since we only need one vehicle...I'm not able to drive right now and may not be able to in the future. Hanging on to the truck doesn't make much sense. As much as I like it. I really need a version to come that has real self driving capabilities! I'll be waiting for awhile.

I had my Jeep GC for 10 years, it had air suspension and was not a problem.

Plan on keeping the R1S for a long time (still have our Model S, it is 10 years old). People always talk about the expense of repairs as a reason to get rid of a vehicle. I look at it differently, repair cost are built in to my decision, as long as the vehicle is reliable and I like it I’ll keep it. Even if I had to drop 10k on a repair that would not cover the tax and license for a new R1S here in California.

Plan on getting an R2 as well, probably will keep that for a long time as well, it will be an additional vehicle not a replacement vehicle.

As a side note, only spent about 3k on repairs for the Model S since the warranty expired.

Similar situation
Have a R1T and patiently waiting on the R2 for the wife
I just recently crossed over the 60k threshold
Hopefully I get lucky with minimal repairs but the price of a new quad extends that threshold
My wife’s EV has only had right at $400 out of pocket repairs with 87k miles

I generally keep my vehicles at least until I pay them off (4-5 years), but lately I’ve been considering keeping my T and maybe add an RXXX…. Which makes zero sense since I don’t need 2 vehicles. First world problems :facepalm:

Plan on running both of ours as long as feasible. Possibly have our daughter take the R1S for college and upgrade the wife to whatever RX is out in 5 years…my R1T until they force me to give it back to them.

Our Gen1 until the wheels fall off, our gen2 until gen4 probably - or they release an R3X in LA silver so I can lower it and put massive stance wheels on it and do a midlife crisis in style.

I often hear people say they loved their Gen1 Rivian especially R1T. I wonder why? Gen1 vehicles were better built, or better sound system? Any Gen2 owners want to keep their Gen2s for the long haul?

Probably a first love kind of thing

. I do sometimes think the early builds have fewer problems because they got more attention when being built.

I'm guessing I'll like the R2 just as much.

My lease is up the end of June next year and that'll be it for me. Too bad Rivian isn't making an R2T as I'll be going back to a smaller truck. It makes business sense to do the R2S first, but the fact that the R2T isn't even on their outlook is disappointing. It'll be the Slate or a Maverick for me as it stands. I really like the Telo, but I think that's even further out, if it comes to market at all.

Trading my LE R1T for R2 LE. Then probably trading the R2 in for R3X.

We'll probably keep the R1S LE until it starts to be less reliable. The gen2 R1S is a lease, and it'll go back when the lease is up and likely not be replaced.
