10 seconds for a complete up/down cycle isn't Bolt fast (hah!) but it's not terribly slow either. Unless I'm misunderstanding, and it's 10 seconds per up and another 10 seconds per down?
No, ~10 sec. for the complete cycle. But as you can see, it's twice as fast when holding the switch at the first notch.

Don't have an R1 yet, but my 2018 model 3 (not sure if it got better/changed with later revisions) has very slow front windows with slightly faster rear windows. Same speed up and down but noticably slow, and annoying. My wife's A4 has rocketship fast auto windows in comparison

All I can go by is my own experiences.

These windows are slow.

Slow compared to every car I have ever owned, and that's a lot of cars over 40 years. My 2013 Model S wasn't nearly as slow, neither is my 2022 Model 3P, so I doubt it is an EV thing.

It appears to be a Rivian thing though.

The frustration is in the fact this shouldn't even be an issue. Some may not care or try to critique the critique, but I see it as a noticeable flaw. Which is why I chose to post about it.

I am hoping the problem can be fixed via an update, but I have my doubts.

EDIT** I had only used the automatic raise and lower. The manual raise/lower moves at an appropriate speed. I'm assuming the automatic speed is a safety thing. Perhaps it can be controlled with software

0:00'05.96 up and down when manually holding at the first notch and 0:00'10.43 when using "Expess Open"...

This is a complete up/down cycle.
Thanks for timing these, I recall people saying the windows were slow before so when I did my test drive back in December I made a note to test them. They seemed ok to me, I guess it is a perception thing.

Now with your timings I know why they seem normal, I went out and timed my Jeep GC

Express up/down cycle was 8.4 seconds
manual up/down cycle was 9.25 seconds

Not enough of a difference that I would be concerned or really even notice based on your timings.

I don’t have my R1S yet either, but as long as we are on the topic, my 2017 Jeep Wrangler rubicon windows go down in less than 3 seconds. I love them. Hope Rivian can adjust window speed. 10 seconds would be annoyingly slow. Seems strange that one would control window speed with software. Haven’t we had electric windows in cars long enough such that there is a standard rate at which they roll up and down?

The timing that was done was for full cycle (down and up).

I have the same issue, and a bonus issue where the passenger rear window won't auto up no matter what i do. Yes, i've tried the reset procedure multiple times.
Time for a service request

I noted this at delivery. Rivian service responded saying the windows are supposed to move slower in auto-up/down vs. The manual up/down. The idea is that your eyes are on the window in manual mode and would let go if someone yelled their finger is trapped. The slower auto-up/down means the pinch detection is tripped easier in the auto-up/down.

It’s all software controlled - if you use your keyfob to roll the windows up or down they will all move at the same speed and go up and down in unison.

I believe the improved the window button sensitivity in the recent .15 release. It was not noted but I feel Like my window switches are much less glitchy now.

No.

Have you tried to recalibrate them? My driver side wasn't auto rolling up, but that fixed it.

Didn't know that was a thing. Yeah I have to press down like 3 - 4 times sometimes to get it to auto roll down or up. But then sometimes it does it after one press. Its just very inconsistent. My passenger side doesn't seem to have the problem as much. Mainly the driver window. But then thats what get used 95% of the time.

Got a link to where the recalibration instructions are?

Put in park. From a window up position roll it down. And continue to push the switch down for 5+ seconds. Then roll it up and continue to pull the switch up for 5+ seconds. You have to do it on the door that the window is in. So driver window has to be done from driver door. And passenger window from passenger door.

It's slow. I noticed is at Venice. I don't consider it broken, but I do consider it slow enough to avoid a plume of diesel or a dust cloud hauling ass down a dirt road that someone kicked up.

So this was actually resolved by support so I want to pass it along.

While I did try the reset procedure from the driver's seat, they said it would work if I did it from the ACTUAL window switch that wasn't working right.

I found it hard to believe but it actually worked.

So if you have a similar issue it should resolve it.
