I have seen more and more on Lightspeee recently and really intrigued…has anyone else looked at them? Thoughts I am considering them just me and the the bulldog so it’s a good size….https://lightshiprv.com/

80 kw battery that can help accelerate and reduce the hit to the EV on the kw/mi conversation, has 3-4 kw solar storage that can refill the camper batteries or recharge the EV (no decision on NACS or CCS adapter)

sleeps 2 adults and 2 kids well, refrigerator, dishwasher and a few other commodities.

Pebble Flow has fewer moving parts and feels more home-y to me. The Lightship is one big slide-out (slide-up?) and I hear those slide-outs are an absolute pain when they break. Completely useless at your campsite if that fails. Pebble flow is cheaper and can also hitch to your vehicle remotely. Pebble has smaller battery but says off grid capability for 7 days. Production supposed to start later this year.

Also, Lightship looks like a coffin when in tow mode. ?

At what point do you decide it’s simply cheaper, easier, less hassle and more efficient to buy an ICE truck and standard camper? Hauling around the combined weight of a Rivian and a battery pack laden trailer while still suffering from drastically reduced ranges and long charge times seems counterproductive to the point of a relaxing vacation.

You’ve done zero research on Lightship or Pebble I see. Sure it’s cheaper to get the equivalent of a mobile home on wheels to drag around with a prehistoric Dino powered ICE, but these two power themselves with minimal range loss, and don’t look like the Clampett’s just stumbled out of them into an RV park. ?

Sorry, whiskey may have made me a little harsh…

I’ve looked into them, and the concept is quite interesting. Unfortunately, current technology does not support them. No matter how much they propel themselves, the vehicle loses efficiency, and when you run out of juice in both you now have to charge 200 kWh instead of just a truck.

I’m driving my R1S to the hotel and then letting someone else clean up while I drive home.

I just helped Polydrops do an efficiency test with their new P21 camper.

~2.25 mi/kWH @ 55mph. It doesn’t have propulsion. Weighs 2,000lbs.

This was the base model, so there is definitely more that can be added.

I don't see any blinds or shades in any of their videos or pictures. Not even in the bathroom. I must be missing something.
Without shades the heat gain from the sun will increase AC load by more than 3 fold. That 7 days off grid number seems suspect for a fishbowl of windows.
As I understand it the difference between high efficiency and regular modern A/C is only like 40%. Not the 300% it would take to make these specs seem believable to me.

Electric dimming. Now have no idea on how well that keeps heat out.

I can't do that.

On the way to the hotel my GF will ask me to stop a few times so she can pee.
Once we get to the GF my GF will spend time cleaning and prepping the hotel room because it doesn't meet her standard.
Then when we leave the hotel room its cleaner than it was when we came. Sure I get that mentality for someone's house. but a hotel room?

Looks good but the specs only say its a Portable Toilet which is basically a Porta Potti.

Ideally (for me) it would be a cassette toilet.

So true...

Roughing it, is a hotel without room service... For longer stays, Abnb and vrvo.

If I really want the outdoor experience, there's always Glamping and FieldStation.

The acquisition and recurring costs of any trailer/motorhome has never made sense for our use case.

Can the Rivian R1S physically and legally tow the Lightship which is 8300 lbs fully-loaded with a tongue weight of 820 lbs?
