You can't even legally or safely tow the Lightship with the R1S. It's 8,300 pounds fully loaded.
Pebble Flow is significantly cheaper, lighter at 6,800 fully loaded, can independently move unhitched, and can self-hitch. Larger battery would be great, but I don't think I'll be off the grid...
Awfully small market, so R1T and Cybertruck owners only? Even the Chevy Tahoe’s towing capacity can’t safely tow the Lightship. Highly doubt the typical large diesel truck owner would ever consider an EV RV let alone a 200K one.
100% agree. It is also 6,800 pounds fully loaded, which is 1,500 pounds lighter than the Lightship. The recharge/regen mode sounds very useful and the magic dock is game changing. Wonder how much less efficient it is than the LS when both have their motors run to help assist / propel. Pebble...
Pebble Flow for me.
Top trim with all accessories is 100K CHEAPER than the top trim of the Lightship.
1,000-1,500 pounds lighter
IMO, a better and more functional layout thanks to the Murphy bed. Sleeping areas are on opposite ends creating more privacy
Magic Tow hitch? Game changer for...
I considered option 4 as well but my side gig generated enough income so Iconverted my R1S into my business vehicle and will opt for option 3. I have two other vehicles that are for solely personal use and have used the R1S for business 75% of the time.
GM is offering 0% financing and crazy low MF rates for leases on the Silverado...I like Rivian, but I would not pass up on 0% financing. I bet dealers are giving crazy discounts as well.
Interesting, so it’s not the black rubber lining that needs to be replaced? I’ve seen DYI videos and am considering just adding more to the existing that’s in place for better sound proofing.
A change in the administration will halt RV production from all legacy automakers. Rivian and Tesla will continue to survive and dare I say even do well under such change.
I don’t quite understand the consumer’s reluctance to EVs. It must really be range concerns and not enough buyers with...
Dealers are naturally anti-EV. The EV sales model threatens their existence so it makes sense that they could care less about their level of service when it comes to EV
The Traveler is longer and wider than the R1S and it doesn’t have a third row?
Did Rivian negotiate that with VW?
Hard pass for me.
I’d consider tolerating the extra size in my 1.5 car garage, but not without a third row, which rules out many customers that actually can live the EV lifestyle...
Has anyone aggregated issues linked to approximate VIN?
I’ve seen many reporting terrible sound quality from the Rivian Premium Audio system, noisy and faulty HVAC. Does anyone know if those issues were frequent in R1S G2 from a particular batch or VIN range?
thanks
