  1. Backing out of garage - wipers went crazy

My wipers will sometimes ghost wipe when I pull into the garage. My F150 did the same thing. I think the sensors are seeing something on my ceiling. I don't worry about it. YMMV
  2. Why the efficiency graph is way off vs real efficiency.

I use the graph for telling if the service is slow in the drive through. It shows a slow slope downward while sitting in the line. It the slope takes up half of the display then I know I have been sitting for 7 minutes and it is not just my imagination that service is slow. Perhaps not the...
  3. Premium Charger v2: Just Snap It In

I ran into a guy that does some of the injection molds for Rivian at a Kansas City Rivian club meeting. I could dig around here for his business card if you would like. They are in mid-Missouri where labor costs are low, so I would guess they should be cost competitive.
  4. Wood dash looks a little different

Mine is the same way. I would guess that they arrange the grain of the wood on each piece to get the best use out of the wood or the least likely to split. Because of the way that the grain is on that piece it was probably too rough and needed to be sanded. I like the way mine is.
  5. Charging curve summary over 48 recent DC Fast Charging (L3) sessions

Great post. How did you get the data? I did not know that it stair stepped and started so low at only 50% charge. I now know that if I am over 60% that I should not bother with anything over 150kW at all. Around here they cost more per kW and have more problems.
  6. Trade-in 2022 R1T for newer model?

I would do it. A little known issue with used cars is that banks will give a longer loan to a newer used car. That makes for a lower payment for the next owner on a 2 year old car vs a 4 year old car. This causes all the 2 year old cars to irrationally hold their value better. If I had another...
  7. Problems problems, all these damn problems! Let's hear from those who've had little / no issues! 🗯️

No more problems than my F-150. Counting oil changes, it has been to the shop less.
  8. R1T Weird Pricing?

Love those colors! Get it now and enjoy it. Waiting for perfection will take forever.
  9. Is your experience with the Rivian GPS Nav as Bad as Mine has been?

As for customizing the name I say "Alexa, directions to home" on a regular basis and it gets it right. I think that Alexa will route to any address in your address book, so customizing a name for a favorite destination seem like a feature that does exist. I suspect that there is a lot of Amazon...
  10. Gearing up for R1S purchase - Charging at home

If you have some fast chargers nearby it will give you more flexibility in your home install. I find that the charger that came with my Rivian works well, but that my installed Rivian charger is more convenient because it has a nice cord rack.
  11. 2023.46 Lane Change Characteristics

Awesome! The whole lane change process is the biggest reason that I don't use driver+. That looks usable.
  12. My solar panels with R1T are costing me money.

Finally got the utility and my electrician to talk. They will be able to install a EV only meter and panel and let me keep my net metering. But all of this will cost $5000. About a thousand of that is because they want to raise the incoming line higher over the shed that I installed a few years...
  13. Off-Road Tire Pressure?

I asked customer service and they said all the tires are the same pressure of 48PSI. So just follow the door sticker. The door sticker is a required feature of all US made vehicles. Open the drivers door and there is a sticker in there that tells you what pressure the tires should be inflated...
  14. And this is why we can’t rely on self driving (eg FSD) features yet

I read that article, and it absolutely does not say what you just posted. The article is short enough that I don't need to recap it here. Anyone that thinks "Gotcha!" should go read it. The NHTSA is not that stupid.
  15. And this is why we can’t rely on self driving (eg FSD) features yet

I agree that FSD is not ready for prime time. Elon said that there were fewer accidents per mile with it on than off. I believe that was a misrepresentation because no one uses FSD for the hard stuff. At some point it will be true that a future FSD system is better than the average driver...
  16. Charging at my cabin.

I think it is talking about the plug that goes into the wall and the charger itself. I think the end that goes into the truck is fine in the rain.
  17. Charging at my cabin.

A 120v outlet has 3 conductors. 220 has 4. So only 25% more expensive for double the speed. The cable cost will dominate your costs. A proper electrician may balk at putting a 50amp outlet on a 40 amp circuit. Buried is better than an extension. An extension cord may have problems in the rain...
  18. Off-Road Tire Pressure?

I went 4 wheeling yesterday day and did not know how much to air down. The jeeps were going down to 20 psi. that seemed low to me so I went to 25. That was defiantly too low. Now that I know Rivian suggests 31 as a minimum I will stick with that. It did make a big difference in the trucks...
