I think you’re right. A non-wood option with a different aesthetic than the same material used on the seat, could be a good look

the vegan leather dash was a desperate move when they were having supply issues with the wood dash. they obviously got that figured out and im pretty sure the demand for the leather was low. good move to simplify production.

Agreed and they probably offered it back then as a full white interior option since the white wood went away.

I saw samples at the new Seattle Space last Thursday. The actually looked good out of the dash context.

In context, they were bad. There’s just no variation in color, texture, or material around the driver’s cabin space.

I gave up waiting for the Vegan dash because I had a hunch it would take forever to come to market. So I picked a truck up from the shop.

If third party options come available for the dash I'll likely jump on it.

yup, it had a really good looking fabric on it. It looks a helluva lot better than the vegan leather (such a stupid name).

Rivian has perhaps the best looking wooden dash in the industry.

I was an actual vegan for quite a few years in my late teens and early 20s. Certainly fell into that tell everyone trap at first, but pretty quickly learned to avoid the subject. Later on, anytime it came up everyone would have some gotcha argument against it. Always something I’d heard before, and that didn’t make any actual sense.

I'll miss it, if we got another r1 it would have had the vegan dash - though the wood looks awesome it's not easy to clean. After a few years of kids I'm worried the wood will look super rough...

Are you afraid the kids will mistake it for a tree and climb it?
